    New Orleans Jazz Fest

by FestivalFunseeker on 2013-06-14New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

Amazing festival complete with warm and welcoming volunteers. Line up was fantastic. Became a fan of the Fais Do Do stage instantly - the atmosphere is energetic, enthusiastic and alive. Saw so many great performances by some of the very best. Regrettably the weather turned cold and we got lots of rain, but made the best of it. Thank goodness for Wal-Greens and the galoshes and capes! We'll be back.

The mud couldn't keep good friends down

by 1a2b3c on 2013-05-07New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

We've been regulars for nearly 20 years ... the weather didn't cooperate quite as much as usual, but the orange bever was flying and fun was had by all. Great to see Hall & Oates and Trombone Shorty for sure...

Willie Nelson as good as ever

by jenko on 2013-05-07New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

Although the weather was not great until the our last day, we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. This was our first trip to Jazz Fest and it won't be the last. Well organised throughout including the shuttle system. The food was plentiful and very good quality and everyone in the service end of the fest were always cordial.

by shebee on 2013-04-30New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

We had a great time. We didn't realize how big the Fairfields were! We had an amazing and fun time, even in the pouring rain! The sound system/speakers didn't provide the greatest sound quality, but the atmosphere was great!

New Orleans Jazz Fest - what a trip

by DealQueen on 2012-05-12New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

3 days, 12 stages, each showing on average 5 music performances, amazing talent, 60,000+ people at any given time from all over the world sharing the same love for music, incredible food, perfect weather - what a trip!!! This was my first time at this amazingly well run festival and I sure hope to be able to come back. Loved walking from one stage to the next experiencing a completely new music genre - from Jazz to Blues to Zydeco to Rock to Congo to Gospel and many others in between - anything a music lover's heart could desire! The organizers of this festival are to be congratulated, even the biggest crowd at the Bruce Springsteen show was never out of hand, there was never a second where I felt unsafe or uncomfortable, crowds were shuttled smoothly to bus or taxi stops after, grounds were clean and even line ups for food or bathrooms were never unreasonably long.

Irma, Doc and Bruce - wonderful

by Sonacoach on 2012-05-02New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

I really enjoyed all three days of the weekend. Irma Thomas sang a wonderful tribute to Mahalia Jackson, Dr. John was great, but Springsteen - I've never been a fan but I am now! He put on the best live performance I've ever seen, and I'm 68. I had a couple of complaints about the sound quality. Congo Square was the worst, with buzzing, overly heavy bass and unintelligible vocals a number of times. The worst was for Cheik Lo. Why can't professional sound guys come out into the audience and hear what it sounds like out there? Why can't they balance vocals with instruments so you can hear the lyrics? On the other hand, the sound for Springsteen was terrific - he had bass, drums, guitars, horns, piano, a fiddle, an accordion, and vocals, and every one was clear. The positives far out-weighed the negatives and I plan to go every year for as long as I can.

    Not to be missed

by Highfeye on 2010-05-06New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

One of the most amazing concert events in the world. Not to be missed. Because there are 15 stages at any time the event is best appreciated by strolling the event and exposing yourself to musicians you may not know. Also hands down the best food ever found at a concert venue. 300 artists over 2 weekends.

Jazz Fest - a lifetime music highlight !

by Goldie on 2010-05-04New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

Because we came from Canada, we were treated with the best hospitality! The music was the best (except for Aretha Franklin having to cancel - sob!). Unfortunately we ended up in a tense situation trying to catch a glimpse of BB King when someone cut tent curtain ropes and there was pushing and shoving. - just open the curtains man! It was well organized, the best food and crafts one could imagine. Bathrooms were the same as any other festivals - COULD SOMEONE PLEASE DOUBLE THE NUMBER AND HAVE 75% FEMALE ONLY (WE TAKE LONGER AND WE DONT SPRAY THE SEAT)

    WoW NOJazz is Amazing

by Dedodedo on 2010-05-04New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

This festival is amazing for so many reasons! One this city really gets tourism, flat taxi fare - $5\person to get the Jazz festival from Downtown, finishes at 7 each night, so you still have time to enjoy the night life of New Orleans. Vendors selling chairs outside the fair grounds, great food and I haven't even talked about music yet. Where else can you see Simon and Garfunkel, Anita Baker and Steve Martin playing the banjo all in one spot, check, check check!!! Highly recommended, can hardly wait to do it again.

    Would come back for more!

by JazzFestVirgin on 2010-04-27New Orleans Fair Grounds - New Orleans

This was my first year at the Jazz Fest and I had a blast! The music was great, the food was delicious, and the people were super friendly. The only down side was that the Race Tracks wasn't exactly a grass-sitting venue, and it gets rather muddy with rain. The convenience of the event shuttle (vs. the city trolley) was worthwhile. Due to time contraint, I was only able to go for 1 day, but would definitely return to experience a full weekend! At night, there were countless numbers of amazing bands playing at the pubs and on the streets. New Orleans is one of those cities where you just want to sit with a coffee in a park or at a cafe and be able to absorb everything that's going on.
