It was not well orginaized at the begining as it was extremely difficult to get through the concourse to your seats. I saw two police officers leave the crowd, as it was to congested. Could have used more washrooms, but so can the Saddledome, Actually I think the Flames need a new rink, the one they have is so 1988.

It was great to be at the Heritage Classic. The event itself was fantastic. The lines to food and the washrooms were horrible. We missed well over half a period due lineups. That was a huge downfall, considering how much we paid for tickets.

The game was great. Access/services not so great

by FanParent on 2011-02-22McMahon Stadium - Calgary

First off, thanks to the Flames and the Habs for a very entertaining game. And, once in my seat, the whole experience was entertaining and well-run, but... I'm not sure what the event organizers were thinking with the set up for access to McMahon for this event. Random lines formed going who knew where. I saw nobody providing guidance to fans streaming onto the site to indicate where they should go, or which was the best line up for your seat allocation. You got into a line up hoping it would move and take you toward your seat. I was seated in the temporary end zone seats. The gaps between rows were too narrow, especially with everyone wearing heavy winter wear, and the the elevation gain per row was too shallow, with the result you had to keep moving your head to see the ice surface between the toques in front of you. Management of ticket sales was also less than stellar. Sold out in 10 minutes on the first day of sales, but then batches of tickets being freed up later, even the morning of the event! I've no doubt a number of fans who would have loved to participate were put off, if not by ticket price, by the random way in which tickets became available. First the World Juniors, now this. The game was good fun, and I was glad I went, but some annoyances dropped it down from being an amazing event.

    Heritage Classic was a blast

by Karona on 2011-02-22McMahon Stadium - Calgary

The Heritage Classic was a blast. The hockey game was great, intermission entertainment was good, the Snowbirds were fantastic and the weather was tolerable. I had the good fortune of having Red & White Club tickets so I was able to go in during the intermission to warm up and not have to stand in line for restrooms or food and beverage service. We couldn't take in any of the activities out in front of the stadium due to the large throng of people already inside the fenced area. It was jam packed inside and out of that area. With the estimated 40,000 people coming to the game, it would have been nice to have more information/security people to let everyone know what was going on in that area, where to line up, etc. The same went for the food & beverage areas during intermission, it was a gigantic mosh pit with a lot of confusion. I didn't leave my seat during the 2nd intermission because I didn't want to wade through the herd of people again. Some people complained of waiting in line for 40 min. to get something to eat only to be told they were sold out of everything. Not great planning .

    heritage classic

by Arlo on 2011-02-22McMahon Stadium - Calgary

I was great!! but very cold. If they ever do an event like this again at Mcmahon they need to add porta potties, it was shear madness trying to use a bathroom or even walk through the stadium.

Great event - Venue Maxed out

by Anonymous on 2011-02-22McMahon Stadium - Calgary

Cold day but thought the event was well planned and executed. Had seats 14 rows up on center ice behind the stage so visibility wasn't bad. The fireworks and planes flying overhead were a real nice touch and the music artists were great considering the cold. Only negative is the stadium does not support that many people - while they seemed to think about that for the beverage line-ups they totally missed the boat for food, washrooms and the concourse in general. If you waited for between periods good luck getting anything done in less than half an hour and 45 minutes was the norm for line-up waits and just moving in the concourse in general. Great even but you need a facility to handle the crowds.

The day could not have been made any better. An experience of a lifetime. My nose and left ear fell off because it was pretty cold but I have made new ones out of papier mache so all is good. Go Flames Go!

    Amazing event, terrible facility

by AVKeithN on 2011-02-22McMahon Stadium - Calgary

I thought the NHL did an amazing job on this event. the biggest downfall was the facility. McMahon stadium can barely handle 24,000 for a football game, nevermind 40,000+ for a hockey game in the cold. Concorse area was gridlock before, during intermission, and after the game. All in all though it was a great experience and I would absolutely do it again
