Thoughts and reflections
by Mike on 2023-10-22The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - WindsorNick isn't a comedian. That's not to say he's not funny, but he's not up there doing stand-up. There's a lot of personal reflections, strong opinions and justified criticisms of a certain Canadian singer-songwriter. Sometimes he's crass and sometimes you wished the omnipresent security guard would let you have 2 seconds on your phone to define the last word he said. Seriously Caesar's, lighten up just a touch. I am a fan of Mr. Offerman, I've read his books and realized many of our views align nicely. In a different world, at a different time, I'd like to think we could be friends. He's not Ron Swanson (a fact he's put to music) so if your world view leans heavy to the right and/or you're a fan of Ben Shapiro, you might not enjoy this show. I overheard more than one of my neighbors express their displeasure at what is simply their own ignorance. Before paying for an evening to enjoy someone's "merriment and mirth", reflect on whether or not you're willing to actually listen. A few "bits"are recycled from other Nick Offerman offerings, but always the best ones. I appreciate having the opportunity to see him in person, support him, and enjoyed the evening thoroughly. A few pieces felt forced, but I wonder if that's because it's obviously written for an American audience and some of the political and pop culture ideas might not translate well North of the border. The truly magical moments are always the digressions and ad lib comments where see the real Nick Offerman.
