Ottawa Senators History

The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

Was looking forward to sharing a fun night with family from out of town at a Sens game, and it was my nephew’s first time at an NHL game, but instead of getting nice front row seats on the 300 level, we were right behind a huge camera and it’s operator and couldn’t see much of the ice. The seats in Section 321, Row A, Seats 20-17 should not be for sale, and especially for $65 each. We asked to move but weren’t accommodated with equivalent or better seats. My family was kind about it, but it was a bummer and a big distraction from the game. Trying to get some resolution through the Ottawa Senators site, but not getting anywhere.

I bought the tickets through the the BOGO promo, Buy One Ticket, Get One. I received my tickets, received the confirmation email but never received the code to get my free ticket. I'm really angry about this.

The new rule regarding purses is very inconvenient.

Great venue. Not a full house. C’mon Sens fans! Food options were poor. Not like other big venues we have been too. Overall had a great time!

Visited the Canadian Tire Center to watch the Chicago Blackhawks game on March 12 2022 - excellent arena, friendly staff. Great price for front row seats. Will definitely be attending the Chicago game again next year!

  • Great experience

by Dannielle on 2022-03-15Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

We where there for the Senators vs Blackhawks game. We drive from Nova Scotia with our 2 boys. They were so excited! Every staff memeber we encountered was super friendly and helpful. Our boys waited down by the boards with their sign for a chance to get a puck, which they were lucky enough to get, but then my older son, who was the one who caught the puck, gave it to a little boy beside him. They had a great night and we will hopefully be back for another game

  • Ho hum

by Stephen on 2022-03-15Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

Star Wars night. A great idea and fairly well executed. The find the Princess during second intermission was very low budget (seemed minor league). DJ Prospect was good, the kids enjoyed it. Too bad the Senators played poorly which made for a disappointing atmosphere. Seems there is more the in game entertainment (music, media, etc) could do to pump things up to get people moving even if game is not entertaining.

  • Excellent view, interference from others

by Georges on 2022-03-15Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

There should be more enforcement to prevent people from going to their seats while the puck in in play; I had to do it myself. Section 208. The seats there are at least much better than the adjacent 200 seats, however the sound system does poorly when dealing with high pitched sounds. Excellent view for the price however.

  • Parking thrill kill

by Sean on 2022-03-14Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

The Sens won which was excellent. All was going great (except the silly price of a can of beer) until getting home. The parking lots on the south side were at a standstill for 20-25 minutes for us to clear out but only because we turned around and chose another exit when we spied CTC employees using it and followed their lead! Certainly there can be better planning/direction to get CTC goers on their way after the event!

  • Disorganization extreme

by HabsFan on 2022-03-01Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 1 out of 5

Canadian Tire Centre needs to get organized. It was a gongshow getting in and they were only at half capacity. Can't imagine how much worse it will be now that full capacity is open. Parking: cars lined up on Palladium from Terry Fox Dr to get in. Signage needed so that once near the parking lots, westbound drivers will know they can't enter southside lots and vice versa. Otherwise you end up having to drive past the stadium, turning back at next intersection to get into another long line in other direction. At the stadium, long lines outoors to get inside. Finally get inside to be told no one with purses (I had a mini one for glasses, inhaler) can enter at main gate entrance. Signage outside to that effect would have been helpful. Scratch that. Put up signage stating that outside!!! Instead they send us back outside and around the corner to line up at gate 3 where there was another long line of people -- all I talked to were redirected there like me. Result: missed most of first period. Do better CTC. Other stadiums do. Take a lesson from them.

  • Parking

by Mama Bear on 2022-03-01Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 1 out of 5

The worst set up, to get to the game to have no choice but to drive, and there is no one to direct traffic as it is coming in from both directions. The game starts at 7:00 you would have to be there at 5:00 to avoid the jams, then to leave it took us an hour to get out, and this was at 50% capacity. Would I go back, properly not.

  • Great hockey

by walarok on 2022-03-01Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

It was a fun evening with a good hockey game. The between period entertainment could have been better, not much of a DJ fan.

L'expérience n'est peut être pas la même.. L'intro n'est pas à la hauteur de ce que l'ont pensait.. le son est mauvais et il n'y a aucun effet de lumière sur la patinoire mais sommes toute, la game, la vue, les prix en valaient la peine

  • Great game and got to ride the Fanzoni!!!!

    by Greg1209 on 2022-02-23Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

The seats and atmosphere were awesome even with half capacity. The view was excellent from the lower half of Sec. 318. The staff was courteous and helpful. The Sens played a great game. My girlfriend and I were invited to take a ride on the Fanzoni between the 2nd and 3rd periods along with four other fans. It was a fun and exciting treat!! GO SENS GO!!!

  • All good, but better access is needed. As I walk with a cane

  • Venue ok, staff not so much

by Josh on 2021-12-14Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 2 out of 5

We (family of 4- myself my wife and our 6&4yrs old) were stopped from entering the stadium because my wife's purse was "too big"(it's barely big enough for her wallet and keys). We waited outside while she walked back to the car to leave it, which gave me the time to watch. Many ladies were allowed to go in with much bigger bags and purses. The employee's decision is totally subjective. There's not measurement tool to decide. I feel my wife was targeted. Your employees let people in with alcool in their "Tim Hortons cup", but won't let my wife's purse in? Brilliant. Your employees let people smoke weed in the parking lot, but my wife's purse is too big? Genius! Good job!
