Ottawa Senators History

The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

  • Kinda bad experience

by KP on 2021-12-14Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

I didn’t like how the fans starting bitching at me for cheering for a Tampa bay goal then it got declined and they told me after that your team is so shit fucking losers

  • Bad

by Fred on 2021-12-07Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 1 out of 5

Impossible to get a taxi after the game, half the concessions closed, arena built in the middle of nowhere.... certainly not an NHL level experience !!!

  • Very well organized

by Kristi on 2021-12-07Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Event venue was well organized, and the staff were very polite and hard working. Impressed with the overall experience from entering to leaving

200 level seating at centre ice provides great views!

  • Great Time watching the Sens

    by Greg1209 on 2021-11-17Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

Every time I go to the Sens games I have a great time! Although they struggled the effort this young team exerts is always entertaining. There are no bad seats at the Canadian Tire Centre. The view of the ice surface and the action is fantastic from the 100s, 200s, and 300s. The CTC staff are friendly and outgoing and provide a safe atmosphere even during the pandemic. The Ottawa Police are visible but not intrusive. They act professionally and interact with the fans in a fun and outgoing way. The only improvements could be to the food. We ate at the Royal Oak and to say their nachos were abysmal would be an understatement especially at the price. The beer prices at the concession stands and restaurants are high but not surprising.

  • Great game. Great atmosphere. Keep it up!

  • No bags, had to walk all the way back to car

by Moe on 2021-11-16Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 2 out of 5

Missed start of game due to them not mentioning bag rule earlier. Beer overpriced and my fav Sid Crosby not playing. I left disappointed after second period.

  • Great time

  • Awesome

by Lisa D on 2021-11-16Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

The Canadian tire centre is very accessible. Lots of parking, passes can be purchased in advance. Lots of space, organized very well to accommodate big groups. Atmosphere is amazing. DJ party between periods at hockey game. Lots of fun fan games and interaction. Great price points :)

  • Nothing to Sell

by Cece on 2021-11-14Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 2 out of 5

Absurdly high prices for a nearly AHL-level hockey team. When you are consistently trading away recognizable names and finishing 30th in the league, you might think to start doing more to pull people out to games.

  • Good event

by Lynnie on 2021-11-09Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

All went well to go in with our passport and then with our e-tickets. Thanks to all the staff.

  • Review not a story

by Doncierge on 2021-11-07Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 1 out of 5

Lack luster event for even low the cost of the NHL ticket. When in the Ottawa area I will spend less half the money to see the 67's or Olympiques.

  • Far out !

by mv on 2021-11-07Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

The arena is beautiful. The game was good. Arena sound system was amazing at 97 dB. Had lots of fun. However, everything was too far out ! The arena is too far out from downtown, and the popular restaurants are too far out from the arena. We were staying in downtown Ottawa and took an Uber to the game. But because the restaurants are far away from the arena, we would have had to take a cab to the game after our pre-game meal. So we cancelled the Moxie reservations and got a pizza at the rink. After the game we were charged $125 to ride back downtown because of surge pricing. Who knew ? I never appreciated the Toronto situation where you could take a $2.50 subway and be home in under an hour. Great experience, but it was too far out !

  • VEGAS

by Liliana on 2021-11-07Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 1 out of 5

I was there to see VEGAS KNIGHTS so I was pleased. SENS WILL BE SENS. In general COVID rules were respected but the wearing of the mask SHOULD be enforced by security at all time because of the number of people.

  • Atmosphere is great, concessions are a joke

    by A on 2021-10-26Rating: 4 out of 5

What other say about the concessions is true; takes way too long. Look, I know if I'm going to a sporting event I'm going to pay $18 for a beer. What's inexcusable is the fact that it takes 25-35 minutes to get it. A significant amount of people miss half a period of hockey. Every concessions seems to have the following set-up: 1 or 2 people that know what they're doing, and the rest are people who can only hold seasonal jobs and are... bad at customer service/speed/competency to say the least. I had to politely tell a worker that I wanted a simple can of beer like times, and they just started at me with a blank face and what I assume to be an exasperated agape mouth beneath their mask. It took one of the supervisors to notice and process my order in a matter of seconds.

  • Exciting finish

by The Mur on 2021-10-26Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

Overall good experience with a rather exciting, unexpected ending.

  • Parking Nightmare

by Eric on 2021-10-26Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

Everything was perfect except for the parking and getting out on the highway. That alone is enough to not go back. There are no ways of getting out of the parking lot unless you wait for all the rows to be emptied. So, if you are parked close to the arena, you have to wait for an hour or more to only get out of the parking lot. After that, you need to do a silly road and turns to get back on highway to go east bound. Crazy crazy.

  • No merchandise

by Sharksfan on 2021-10-24Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 2 out of 5

I’ve been to Buffalo and Montreal games . Both had sharks Merchandise available. You had no merchandise sales to any shark fan . Poor organizational choice . So every game you lose out on visiting team sales? Pretty stupid choice by whoever is in charge!

  • Backpack restrictions was a surprise.

    by N. W. on 2021-10-24Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 2 out of 5

For all the people that didn’t know about the sudden change to bag size it was frustrating. We were given the ultimatum to bring the now over sized bag back to the car or forced to go through the entrance w the X-ray. This should have been made more clear with pre game day communications.

  • Ticketmaster Experience Sucks

by There goes the river. on 2021-10-24Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

So... having to purchase tickets from Ticketmaster is bad enough. However... if you want to share the tickets with a friend, you can't just email the tickets to them. Ticketmaster forces them to have a ticketmaster account. Which.. after snagging their personal information, they will then start spamming them with their regular spam. If there hasn't already been class action suits against ticketmaster, there should be. But ..yeah the game was fine.
