Ottawa Senators History

The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

The game itself is quite intense. The Canadian Tire centre has all the perks it needs to satisfy everyone. A team effort to have excitement all around.... thank you for making this possible

  • Habs Home Game

by Hull Boys on 2020-02-25Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

I along with my boys attended the most recent Habs home game at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa. The atmosphere was electric as Domi & Price stole the show. (50:1 Habs to Senators sweaters especially in the 100 section.) This was my second game in Ottawa and although the CTC has zero character outside it is easy to get to with ample parking. What it lacks outside it makes up for on the inside. Excellent staff, decent food selections and a great environment (especially the intermission DJ that blows the roof off!).

  • Great

Fantastic staff in all departments! too bad about all of the service charges

  • Great

by Mario on 2020-02-25Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

I really enjoied the game even if they lost that night. The place is great but the food and drinks are a bit too expensive. It was easy to access the parking lot and the building. I will return!

  • Daughter's first game

by Rero on 2020-02-23Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

I brought my daughter to the sens vs jets game feb 18th. She is 4 years old and it was her first NHL game. Overall i would describe the experience as very good. I was happy with the food options such as pizza or hot dog combo's availaable as well as a large bucket of popcorn complete with a refill option. The intermission entertainment was a band on this night, which was pretty good also. And who can not like the Prime Ministers lol. The only suggestion i would like to make, is to have more items available in the upstairs store for girls. I did get her a Sparta Cat stuffed animal, and ponk sens tooq, however there weren't really any options for pink T Shirts in her size. They had some shirts for toddlers, just would have been nice if they had some youth sizes too. Overall good experience though, i will definitely be bringing her back.

  • Not worth the ride

by Flyer on 2020-02-23Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 1 out of 5

An hour trip each way to get to the Sens game from downtown. Once you get there it gets worse. They basically make you go through security outside. The concessions stands ran out of cheeseburgers. It was taking 10-15 minutes to get what food they did have left during the first intermission. The people working there are not happy. Sat 4th row from the glass and the seats were the worst I have sat in anywhere. The only reason to go to a Sens game is to mark it off the list of all the NHL arenas and so you can tell people you survived the game.

  • Fantastic evening!

by Laura and Jude on 2020-02-21Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

All and all, my spouse and I had an amazing evening. It was her birthday and I'm sure it will be one to remember! Go Sens!! #gosens

  • Sens Special Night

    by M. C. on 2020-02-21Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

Overall a great night but overcharged for parking and food and drinks. Told to arrive early, did as suggested but forced to wait outside in the cold with no access to food, drinks or washroom. If the rink was in the Flats public transit would work.

  • Amazing

by Kris on 2020-02-19Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Great atmosphere. The food was very reasonably priced as well

  • Great for family time

My daughter wanted to do something with me and watching a Senators game was the perfect thing to do! We had a lot of fun and can’t wait to go again!

  • Awesome!!

by MC on 2020-02-19Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

The Senators club is really there for the fans. There was a lot to do there prior and during the game...concessions were high but not too bad, i have seen way worse. Our seats were great even for nosebleeds!! If we come back to visit Ottawa again, we will definitely go watch another game.

  • It was an amazing game as the Sens won in OT.

by Guik on 2020-02-19Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

I had purchased those tickets for my step-son’s birthday. We had the opportunity to watch the warmup from the penalty box and, Sabourin gave him one of the puck - cherry on the sundae. Thank you.

  • Love it... other than parking

by Jen on 2020-02-18Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

Love going to hockey games in Ottawa. Always nice staff and a clean arena. Just don’t like how much the parking cost’s and the busyness. Always a long time to get out of there also.

  • Awesome!

by Niki on 2020-02-18Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

We drove in from Toronto, and were so glad we did. There was plenty of parking available. The arena was easy to enter, we found our seats very easily. Loved the event. We would do it again!

  • Need more organization and staff

by Cb on 2020-02-18Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

Huge waits and ran out of food at concessions after the first period. Not prepared for a sold out leads crowd. Missed half the game trying to get through security and trying to get a bite to eat. The game itself was great. Go support the team and maybe they can afford more staff!

  • Stranded in the middle of the highway.

by Spider on 2020-02-18Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 2 out of 5

Game was great had a great time. Arena location was garbage. Tried waiting in the lobby with 1000 other people for Uber’s/taxi’s. Security guards kicked everyone out into the cold and it was a free for all for about an hour before we finally got a taxi. I’ve never had such a brutal experience trying to leave an arena after an event. Ottawa’s rink location is absolute junk! Did I mention the cab to Orleans was $77 (17 min drive)!

  • Awesome

by Denny on 2020-02-18Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

It was amazing it was my very first time being to a NHL game live...I am from north of Toronto and it was worth every penny and I would do it again in a heartbeat

  • Enjoyed the game, hate the parking!

by Jojo on 2020-02-18Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

I enjoy Sens games and if I could afford a season pass, I’d buy one! I totally disagree with moving the team downtown and much prefer the current location. In fact, if they were downtown, I’d be less inclined to go to games. Concession stands are pricey but that seems to be the norm unfortunately. It’s the parking lots and getting out of the lots that drives me crazy! And I don’t appreciate the commercial and school buses having preferences over everybody else. Literally at a standstill while all the buses filed out. I don’t know why more people don’t support the Sens. Where else can you watch NHL for reasonable prices? Again, if I wasn’t a retiree, I’d definitely attend more games.

  • Good: Sens Win. Bad: "Print at Home Tickets" option gone

by fluffy wondertufts on 2020-01-24Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

The game was good. Sens Win, well due to some very lucky puck hops. Not pleased at all with the fact that the organization took away the option of "Print at Home Tickets" apparently due to scalping issues yet the "Transfer" Option is still there. I do not see why anyone would care if a filled seat is legitimate or scalped. The Sens need all the audience they can get.
