Ottawa Senators History

The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

In 2007, the arena hosted games three and four of the Stanley Cup Finals. The arena is also known for being the place where Wayne Gretzky played his final NHL game in Canada.

Arrived to gravy, cheese covered seat

by StuckBesideTheBrawler on 2017-01-17Canadian Tire Centre - Kanata

We arrived to find someone had spilled poutine on one of our seats and the floor in front of it (how Canadian). We waited more than half a period for someone to come clean, and they wiped the seat off with a cloth and swept the floor. The seat was hardly clean, the floor was a greasy slippy mess from the gravy and no one checked in after to make sure it was taken care of properly. If I was paying $20-30 for a nosebleed seat, maybe, just maybe this would be somewhat tolerable, but this was a $100 for the seat at a professional hockey game/arena.

Ottawa & Washington hockey game very good seats

by pens1234 on 2017-01-10Canadian Tire Centre - Kanata

We came from Montréal to see the game on a Saturday night. We had super a Bert's at the Canadian Tire Center the food was very good and fast service. We had a 20 minute wait but that was OK. At 6:30 we were out and in the arena with a half hour before the game.

    Not worth the money

by NotAgain1 on 2017-01-10Canadian Tire Centre - Kanata

Having the metal detectors right at the front entrance doors really slowed our entry into the building. We had to wait outside for quite a while despite arriving at 5:30pm for a 7pm game. Plus 4 machines were not working. Maybe there could be a "fast lane" set up for people with no purses/bags. Service at the Molson Canadian restaurant was extremely slow (waited 40 mins for two smoke meat sandwiches) and too expensive for the quality of food received. Also $15 to park for a few hours is outrageous!!

Ceremony for Alfie great but seats were terrible

by Beck58 on 2017-01-01Canadian Tire Centre - Kanata

It was an amazing ceremony honouring Alfie! However, section 312 is a terrible section to sit in due to many fans that stand throughout the game. Do NOT sit in section 312 if you actually want to see the action. Never again will I make that mistake.

    Canadian Tire Centre Rocks

by Stickywebs on 2016-11-20Canadian Tire Centre - Kanata

Year after year the Sens organization upgrades and improves the centre to enhance the experience for fans. It would be easy to keep the status quo but not this OWNERSHIP TEAM. My only gripe is the fee for parking. $15 is pushing the limits. That is why I limit my visits to Sens games to 1-3 times a year. Thanks. Go!!! Sens!!!! Go!!!

    Always better live

by Mummer on 2016-11-20Canadian Tire Centre - Kanata

CTC a great venue for the hockey game. I'm not a big hockey fan, but there is something about seeing the game live that makes all the difference. Ottawa fans can get anyone into a game!

    Sens hockey

by Karmac on 2016-11-06Canadian Tire Centre - Kanata

The Senators vs the Canucks. Vancouver continues its losing streak. Seat one was obstructed by the cameraman. This was not noted at time of purchase. Staff at the venue said they checked and the ticket had been purchased that morning and there had been two pop ups to say it was an obstructed view. This is not true as the ticket had been purchased weeks before. There is obviously a connection problem between Ticketmaster and the box office.
