Ottawa Senators History

The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

  • No atmosphere

by Patsens on 2018-09-22Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 3 out of 5

Sens fans have to be the worst in the league. Sit on your hands all game. Very boring.

  • Toronto vs Ottawa was amazing!!

Good hockey game but unfortunately they lost 6 - 5.

  • Must the music be so loud?

by DrBob on 2018-04-05Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 2 out of 5

The food at Club Red was excellent. The game was exciting and but for a few defensive lapses well played. But why oh why must the music and sound be so loud? As someone who wears hearing aids the loud music and the exhortations to make more noise lead to a loud buzzing sound and a headache.

  • Sens vs Oilers

by Shuggie on 2018-03-26Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 4 out of 5

This was an excellent event. The crowd was nearly 17,000 which, given the SENS up and down play this season was excellent. The overall atmosphere at the CTC was great - the SENS went down again but watching McDavid for the Oilers was a real treat. Despite the score the Oilers were not exactly great either - the difference was McDavid. Anderson was off his game and Karlsson, due to very sad family circumstances, did not play. The band and its lead singer for the intermission band were excellent. I think the crowd felt they got an entertaining game despite the score. I'm not an Oilers fan - but I appreciate seeing a great hockey player like McDavid. Ottawa fans have more on the ball than that blustering buffoon Don Cherry seems to think or know.

  • Fantastic Event

Great game. Tons of food and snacks options. Friendly & professional staff

  • Sens rock!

by Wandergirl on 2018-02-27Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

The Senators are an amazing team. Even when Craig Anderson continually let the team down, they fought hard the whole game. Difficult to do when you lose consistently.

  • Sens

by MJTP on 2018-02-27Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 3 out of 5

Long outside line to enter building. Focus was on trades, not game.

  • by FFFiona on 2018-02-11Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 4 out of 5

Sens played a great game, nice to see them win, good game, lots of back and forth. Security needs to lighten up a little so that people can have fun and cheer on their team.

  • Awesome game

by ValeGu on 2018-02-09Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

The game was very good, it was very tight till the end, which made it very exciting!! Also, the environment was very friendly and calmed, which made it all quite pleasant.

  • Sens against Ducks

by Lizohurley on 2018-02-04Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 4 out of 5

Seats view was great but were not fix to the floor so kept moving. For the price paid could have been better. Plus close to the Lexus free booze area... to many people walking around. Food at the six pints toik for ever and very expensive. I really really really like hockey but everything surrounding our visit was not so much fun. At least the game was good.

  • Sens Hockey

by Patrishin on 2018-02-04Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

Great evening of hockey. Game was close right till the end, with the Sens taking the win in the first minute of overtime. We are lucky to have NHL hockey in Ottawa with affordable ticket prices. Ottawa is the place to be!

  • Sens vs Bruins

The event was great except for the outcome. Our interaction with Sparty was great. The crowd was a bit quiet.

  • Good game

Excellent arena, easy to get to. Disappointed in both teams performance. AAA games more exciting.

by CashMaster on 2018-01-23Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to Leaf games in TO and very much enjoyed this one. The fans were more fanantic on both sides!

  • Atmosphere was electric and unbelievable

by Bleuocean on 2018-01-23Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

Leafs vs. Sens games are always fun to go to regardless of the result. The atmosphere, energy, and noise in the building is unlike any other games I have been to. There is no need for the Jumbotron to play the "Make some noise" clip in these games. I did miss the Chicklets though and hope to see them at a future game.

  • Great game!

by acskingston on 2018-01-23Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

We came for a hockey game and loved it! We were 2 rows from the ice, near the Senators bench. Great seats!
