Ottawa Senators History

The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

  • Sens V Blues

by BigJoeMufferaw on 2018-01-21Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 4 out of 5

Good seats and the CTC was efficient for sure and as usual. Lackluster performance by both teams. Sad to see the tarps covering some of the end zone. Ottawa should be selling out every game. This will happen when they move downtown.

  • by mossmanw on 2018-01-09Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

Although away from the city, CTC is easy to get to, and easy to get in and out. Stadium and seats were clean. Pop-up restaurants from Canadian Club and Farm Boy were a nice touch and added a better quality food option. Prices are high but not out of line with other venues. The seats were good and the Sens got the W. A solid NHL experience!

We had a great time and our team won. The seats were great too! Only disappointment was they ran out of pulled pork sandwiches.

  • Sens game against TB

    by Ace1729 on 2018-01-09Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

We took advantage of the $31 seats and had a great view of the exciting game. Back to Back wins for the Sens. We used out tickets and jumped on the express bus and were home 30 minutes after the end of the game. Great value for our money.

  • Not worth the extra cost

by Mieraud on 2018-01-02Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 1 out of 5

I took my brother in law to see his favourite team the Boston Bruins, I thought I would make it special and splurged for 100 level seat, Section 107, row F, seats 3 and 4. The seats were substandard, they were lower than a normal seat, my knees were above my waist when seated, they were extremely uncomfortable and I could not sit for the whole game. Yes we were closer to the game, albeit restricted sight lines, but the price of $240 plus processing fee, facility fee, convenience fee and mail fee was not worth it, I have had more comfortable seats in the 300 level.

Amazing experience for my daughter and i’s first NHL game!

  • An excellent experience

It should be posted that selfie sticks are not allowed, other than that we were very pleased

  • Terrible game

    by PM13 on 2018-01-02Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 4 out of 5

The game was terrible, the Sens played very badly, and lost 5-0.

  • If people sat back in their seats properly ...

    by JZ000 on 2017-11-30Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 4 out of 5

All people need to do is sit back in their seats instead of leaning. It blocks the view, even little kids leaning. Otherwise these were upper level seats with great view.

  • NHL & Sens have priced themselves out of market.

by anyNickname on 2017-11-19Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 3 out of 5

Went to see future hall-of-fame star Sidney Crosby. He played well enough but no goals. Wanted to see him in the flesh to compare his game to the way Wayne Gretzky played in his prime. Two totally different styles of play. Anyway, Melnyk has been complaining that he can't fill the building. He's tarped off about 1800 seats. Others have been complaining that Ottawa is not a real hockey town since playoffs weren't a sellout. And currently we have the bizarre situation of Bettman and Melnyk wanting a new hockey rink built in LeBreton Flats. The rink was built out in Kanata 20 years ago by private business "geniuses" - they know what they're doing, right? The CTC is NOT run-down or decrepit in any way. Why do we need a new stadium close to downtown? We DON"T!! You made your bed, now lie in it - i.e. the CTC was built out in Kanata and now the owners and the NHL have to deal with the consequences. And Ottawa is a good hockey town. It's just that Melnyk has discovered what the limits are iin regards to ticket prices, especially playoff ticket prices. Yes, there's such thing as elastic demand, Eugene.

  • Meh

by ComedyCarter on 2017-11-07Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 3 out of 5

Game was fine. Music between every play was bad rock music. Still playing that Blur song after a goal is scored. Yeesh. Crowd was dull. For the price of the ticket, parking, food etc... I can't say this is the best value for your entertainment dollar.

  • My kids first ever NHL game!

    by oakey1969 on 2017-11-07Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

I flew my two boys to Ottawa to see this game at the Canadian Tire Center on November 4th. It was their first NHL game. It was so amazing watching this game live, a close game all the way with the Sens scoring in the last minute of the third period making it 5-4 for the Golden Knights! FREE Big Macs for everyone!

  • Great seats for price

    by Shawn1471 on 2017-11-05Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 4 out of 5

Right straight down the centre of the ice. The bar was right behind us. Away from all the crowds. Seemed like a personal spot to be in

  • Son's 1st NHL Game

    by Hockeymom2011 on 2017-11-03Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

I took my 6yr old son to his first NHL game. We chose this game as he is a Montreal Canadiens fan and I am an Ottawa Senators fan. The seats were right between the visitors bench and the visiting goalie. Perfect for my little fan who cheers for the opposing team! The seats are so close to the glass, he felt like he was part of the action the whole game.

  • Excellent game!!!

This was well worth the price of the ticket$! We saw 11 amazing goals that night. It was a birthday present to be remembered.

  • by CowboyBrody on 2017-10-22Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 4 out of 5

Watching Sens play against my Boyfriend's Devils was awesome! It was his birthday gift from me, and as per usual, Devils beat Sens and he "Made SURE" EVERYINE Knew!

  • First time

by sonjaroy on 2017-10-20Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 4 out of 5

I was worried we wouldn't be able to see anything because we were in the Handicap seating, which is the top row, however we saw the game fine. Too expensive for drinks- I paid $5.50 for a small bottle of water!
