Ottawa Senators History

The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

  • Great experience!

by Marty Dee on 2024-02-01Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

A great experience in Ottawa for the Sens game. The only problem is getting out of there plus the security who doesn't allow people to have any contact with the players!

  • Love watching hockey live but....

Great venue. Great staff. Love the atmosphere Hate the price of food and booze tho!!! The mark up is nuts!

  • Great experience

by Ranger Fan on 2024-01-30Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

5 rows from the ice for under $125 per ticket. Nosebleeds to see a Leaf game are at least twice that amount. Rink is easy to get to, lots of parking, and a great fan experience.

  • Awesome!!

Purchasing rink side seats has been the most awesome experience for us Boston Fans! We even made Boston’s fb!! However…getting to see the Senators play on home ice is a treat;-)

  • Some things were great, some not so good

by Kevin on 2024-01-24Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

Parking dissapointment- My usual parking lot had been designated as "Parking pass only"with no prior notice given at the time of tickets purchased. Then the lot we were diverted too, required us to scan QR code to also download and pay through the app. If not for the 20yr old we had with us, we would have been in real trouble. Then at the end of the night, the dispersal of the lot was total chaos. We sat motionless for 45mins until I executed a hazardous many-point U-turn to get out to a Westward exit. (Ironically through the lot I had first wanted to use, but was denied) Once inside the arena, things were much better. All the staff at the door, and on our isle were at their usual excellent levels.......However....I don't remember the seats being so tightly spaced. I didn't grow sideways, or taller, but somehow our fit into these premium seats reminded me of the last time I flew commercial, economy! Did you guys get pointers on how to cram more seats into the rows? Last season my same crew of 6, sat very much more comfortably in the same area. (We have grown acustom to in-seat service). Our service was excellent as usual, but because of the tight fit, I doubt I would ever try to eat while seated again. It was very troublesome to say the least. Exrtremely dissapointing, given the premium pricing. The venue is overall excellent, but the condition of the Men's restroom is not. The stall doors were useless, the floors a mess, the sink area soaked and towels all gone, and the trash overflowing. It is important to remember that this is the restroom supporting the 100 level premium seating. Many highway rest stops are much better. I'm thinking that the new owners restroom is in better shape eh? The beer was cold, the Egg Rolls and hotdog were awesome, and the team is playing well. All in all, things were good, but it's the little things that could be a lot better, and if improved, they would make the experiance GREAT instead of just good. Thank you for this chance to provide feedback. Kevin Kubota

  • Fun game, travel logistics are a drag

by Jets Fan on 2024-01-23Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

Getting to, parking at, and exiting the Canadian Tire Centre remains a serious drag on this organization's success. I'm willing to endure it for the one game per year that Winnipeg comes to town, otherwise my entertainment $ go to other local team centrally located closer to downtown. If the ownership pulls the trigger on a new, centrally located arena, I think they will see a serious up-tick in single and seasons ticket sales.

  • Amazing Game!

by Jess on 2024-01-23Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

I took my 7 year son to his first NHL game. He was absolutely in love with the atmosphere, also the fact it went into OT. Sadly, the Sens did loose in the end but what a game! Can’t wait until we come again!

  • Great atmosphere!

What a great night. Helps the sens won against our heated rivalry the MTL Canadians. Hats off to the organizers Live band , gifts, entertainment … also taking the bus was a fast and easy way out of the Canadian tire Center.

  • Wonderful experience overall

by MikeA on 2024-01-21Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Not only did the Senators score 6 goals in their win over Montreal, the stadium had a lot of fan interaction with free giveaways between periods, great selection of foods to choose from (I had my first Steak Canadian!), and very helpful and attentive staff in all areas. It was a wonderful first time experience at the Canadian Tire Center for us!

  • No fun on a week night,

by Brian on 2024-01-21Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

Great game. I would like to go more often but….. Traffic for 7:00 week night is really heavy. Getting out of parking lot is a nightmare. 45 minutes after siren before we start moving. Only other options is leave game mid-way through 3rd. Time for a new building downtown.

  • Great venue

by Tim on 2024-01-17Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Over all great experience only two things I would mention the dj is absolutely terrible and from what I hear and see around me at games a lot of people would agree there’s a much better vibe when just good music is played and not some person just yelling over music. Next I would just like to say if the sens move downtown without parking you will lose a lot of fans and getting out of the venue will be a nightmare. Love this team go sens go

  • Horrible Parking exit

by Craig on 2024-01-16Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 1 out of 5

We are lot 2, with an opening between lot 2 and the one beside us cars just park in lot 2. Exiting is terrible, we used to be able to turn right and get out. Not it just takes forever. Brutal parking control

  • We had a blasty blast

by Dani on 2024-01-16Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Look. We love us a good old hockey game. We also love some nerdy business, especially Star Wars. The foot of snow didn’t deter us, and other than having my back and head repeatedly kicked in by two kids and smacked upside the head with foam fingers by the same lot, my Yoda hat and I loved our night. Hopefully, next game is located in a more adult friendly section! Ahaha Cheers

  • Fantastic Experience

Ticketmaster helped me and my girlfriend enter with ease.

  • Never a bad time

    by northstar71885 on 2024-01-08Rating: 5 out of 5

Great in-game experience. Beer is cheaper than most other sporting venues (but still pricey) so it's always a green light at the CTC to have a great time with friends and cheer on our Sens. We usually take OC Transpo ($3.75) or a shuttle from one of the bars that offer it (Lieutenant's Pump, The Senate, Glebe Central Pub, price ranges from $11-$17). That way we don't have to deal with parking and don't need to worry about a designated driver or the post-game traffic jam. It's truly the best way to do a Sens game and there will be plenty more outings this season and beyond. Just hope that Lebreton Flats arena comes around soon. GO SENS GO!

  • Always a blast at the games.
