Ottawa Senators History

The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

  • Send/Nucks game

by DanJ on 2023-11-14Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

The experience was good overall. The arena is far from downtown Ottawa, the jumbotron is small compared to other arenas and the food and beverages are too expensive.

  • Easy, convenient and fair price

by Rikki on 2023-11-12Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Purchased 2 tickets for a hockey game! The process was simple and the seats were easily viewed from map prior to purchase. Received notification prior to event, and I had the option of purchasing insurance on the tickets if I wanted to. Had no problem getting into the event with the tickets and had a great experience

  • Canucks Vs Sens

by Alex Lanthier on 2023-11-12Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

What can I say? Payed for my tickets to watch the Canucks beat the sens, perfect night in my book.

  • Ottawa vs Vancouver

by Madison M on 2023-11-12Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Ottawa (2) vs Vancouver (5) Best game ever section 201 was amazing, one of the best seats in the area. Easy access In and the lines moved quickly both going in and out. I enjoyed my trip, I would definitely do it again.

  • Tired of tipping!

by Pm on 2023-11-12Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 1 out of 5

It’s frustrating that for every purchase, even a single donut at the Tim’s, , you are prompted to tip. The prices are extremely high as it is, would be nice if you didn’t have to opt out of tipping in order to complete a purchase. It’s not a restaurant when the guy just opens his cooler to grab your $7 nutty cone! I’m sure people tip out of guilt rather than for the service. Pay the workers a decent wage (if not already doing so) and remove the need to opt out of tipping unless it’s in one of the restaurants, that’s my advice.

  • Thoroughly entertaining game!

by Reido & Jami on 2023-11-11Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

Even though we lost, the Sens never gave up and kept the pressure on. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole event.

  • Too expensive

by Andrea on 2023-11-08Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

Buying a bottle of water shouldn’t cost that much at a hockey game. Everything was way too overpriced.

  • Great game and Rock Concert rolled into one!

by Nancy on 2023-11-05Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

The hockey game was great. Even though our seats were high up, we could see the game perfectly. The Royal Canadian Air Force Rock Band was superb. It was a great night out and a great birthday treat.

  • Fun night

by CT on 2023-11-05Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Great night of entertainment by the team & the fans. It felt amazing to be able to see my home team really shine & fans appreciate their effort.

  • Lots of fun...except for parking and leaving!

by Monty on 2023-10-26Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

We always enjoy Sens games but the traffic jam entering and leaving is insane and a waste of time. Also the new app/qr code process was not working and confused a lot of people. Prices for parking and beer is too high as well.

  • 2Hot dogs and a drink are more expensive than seats?

by Andy on 2023-10-24Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 2 out of 5

Seriously, 2 hot dogs and a drink is $27.99. Same for pizza slices. That’s if you can get through the crowd to get one. And they also lost. Disappointed for the 8th time in a row. Have not been to a game yet where they have won. Getting out of the parking lot is so much fun too. The value for the money is just not there.

  • Steepest Arena ever

by Big Easy on 2023-10-24Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 1 out of 5

Very disappointed got to our seats and there’s no room to walk through the aisle to get to your seats. No railing to hold onto and a very steep fall for those of us who have balance issues. Really wish they had been transparent when we booked them, ended up sitting in the concourse all game.

  • Bush league concessions

by Luis Maxime on 2023-10-24Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

It was a generally good game experience, but they really have to do better with their food concessions. It was understaffed and they falsely advertised that « fresh popcorn » was being served when they actually just dump a bag of pre-bought popcorn and dump it into the machine. Very bush league.

  • Good experience except

by Lynnie on 2023-10-24Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

Overall great tickets, great day and the price was right EXCEPT for the parking. Unbelievable $35 just to park for the game. Makes us think twice to order more tickets. Tickets pricy + that amount for parking. Ridiculous!

  • A great time

by Sean on 2023-10-20Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

Everything from fan experience to the actual show was great. Reffing was NHL reffing but obviously not what arena can control. Will be back.

  • A great day of Sports Entertainment.

by PriorGuy on 2023-10-19Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Friendly staff, great vibe, arrived 2 hours prior to take it all in. 100 C 1-2

  • Fantastic

by Jason C on 2023-10-17Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Great weekend of Hockey put on by the Ottawa Senators. They know how to put on fun events! Attended back to back games and enjoyed both very much! Can't wait to go back someday.

  • Pretty great but food meh…

by Angel on 2023-10-12Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

Love the Ledge seating! I’m just very tired of the pasta buffet. They use to have a variety of meal options but now it’s only a pasta buffet. Otherwise, amazing service and awesome seats!

  • New Location Required

    by D’Arcy on 2023-10-11Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 3 out of 5

We’ve all heard lots about how the Ottawa Senators need to move their arena. Well I experienced it firsthand on Saturday night when caught in a long line of traffic trying to exit the highway to get into the arena. That wasn’t a half of it roadways, etc. are in adequate to handle the traffic volume that’s coming in. And they’ve had +20 years to fix this. I’m not a regular attendee to the Senators games but have been 6 or so times. It’ll be the last till they move. Not worth the hassle. The game itself was entertaining. And the ticket prices were reasonable. But getting there. Hassle city!!
