Ottawa Senators History

The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

  • Great Experience at the CTC!

by Mike on 2025-02-04Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome experience at Canadian Tire Center (minus the fact that the Leafs lost). I don’t think there would be a bad seat in the house; all the seating looked like it’d have an excellent view of the play. Staff getting into the arena were extremely friendly and enabled quick and efficient entry to the rink. Too easy to get in and out of the parking lot. Lots of options for bussing to-and-from the arena as well. Variety of concession stands and no super long waits for food and drink, which was really nice. Just a great experience; will definitely be back to make sure Sens fans know who Ontario’s team is! Go Leafs Go! Mike

  • Great Experience!

    by 99Forever on 2025-02-04Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

1st time at a Sens game and to the Canadian Tire Center. What a game to attend! Sens on a heater and Caps as #1 in the league. As Oilers fans we were definitely cheering for the Sens hoping the Oil can catch the Caps for 1st overall. Seats were excellent (Row R behind the Sens net), saw not, one but two shorthanded penalty shot attempts.. Not sure if that has ever happened in a game or not, but WOW! Wanted to see an OVie goal... check. Wanted to see a good game... check. Wanted to see OT... check Wanted to see a Sens win... check!!! Only bad thing was that we really did discover how far away the rink is from downtown. Wow! And the traffic was brutal. Good thing is we got a bus from Lieutenant Pump on Elgin for $14pp. Absolutely the way to go! Great pregame and postgame drinks! Driver had the tunes cranked, great atmosphere (everyone singing Mr. Brightside on the way back was a beauty!) Frankly I am not sure why anyone would drive. It was snowing and the traffic was brutal, but our guy did his best MarioKart impression and was driving in and out of lanes, exit ramps, etc. to get us there before face-off. Took about an hour, but we got there just in time for the Canadian anthem. Been to a lot of games.. this was in the top 10 regular season games. Was also very impressed with the arena itself. Loved the bars off of the lower level.. some with live music in the intermission. Very cool. Thx to Lieutenant Pump and to the Sens!

  • Lots of fun!

by Bspence on 2025-02-03Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

The hockey game was a lot of fun! There were great food and drink options. The staff is very helpful when you arrive and are looking for your seats. We could all use a little help getting out of the parking lot after though. It was chaotic with some in pick- up trucks driving over curbs to bud in and all cars driving in the same direction in 3 lanes on a two-way (2 lane) road leading out to the main roads. It would be good to have staff to direct the traffic after the game.

  • What an experience!

    by R&M on 2025-02-03Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

On our arriving with our daughter and her family the grandkids were given a free bottomless popcorn. What a surprise. Then when they were standing at the boards with their signs my granddaughter was invited to ride the Zamboni after the pre-game warm-up! So exciting. And to top it all off the Sens won!!! We had a great time!

  • Had a GREAT TIME. First game for my boys. So much fun!!!

by Caps fan on 2025-02-02Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

We had an awesome experience. My son loves Ovechkin and we got to see him play and score!!! Sens fans cheered loud and so did we when Washington scored. Laughed and had a fantastic time. Got 4 front row seats not crazy expensive. Stayed at the Glo Best Western and it was great too!!

  • Great venue, great game!

by Kurtster on 2025-02-02Canadian Tire Centre - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Brought a friend to CTC who had never been for the CAPS game and he was suitably impressed with the venue. Valet parking is slow on the way out while waiting for your vehicle, but great for coming in to the game.

We had an amazing experience at the Ottawa Senators game. The app was super easy to use it allowed me to see a map of the stadium to see what seats were available and the view from the seats before I bought them. Best experience ever.

I love the games in person. The milk zone is a favourite spot for seats of mine, love it and my best sports friend also enjoys the live games.

Great seats,, easy to get in the venue. But nightmare to get out... And please review the prices at the concessions stands. We always put in the big prize to get in the event, lower the food and drinks prices please!

  • Great Game.

6 of us travelled 5hrs to watch a NHL game between the Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators. The game was the best live game I have ever seen. The staff at the Canadian Tire Centre were very helpful and fun (high fives). We had a meal at Bert's Restaurant at the C.T.C. The food was good at a reasonable price. Overall, it was a great experience. Thanks C.T.C.

I went with my son, something we can do together. Second level seats near centre. Great game, exiting at the end. No silly stuff, just good hockey at a high level. Refresh with pizza and water. #7 parking, easy access and exit. Arena in great location for us as we are out of town west. Downtown won't be without light rail connection from here. Will come to more games weather permitting.
