    Electro Heaven

by moxylady on 2009-09-15El Mocambo - Toronto

Unicorn Kid was the perfect opener to an Owl City concert - he rockified and dancified the energy into the crowd, and he/the room sounded fantastic! Kate, as much as I love her, wasn't in her element here with her smooth and chill (though too slowed down) renditions of her songs - especially showing between two electronic powerhouses. Owl City was fantastic, though put on a different show than I saw back in May - but where he lacked in visuals, he made up with bringing a lady singer into the mix (a bit quiet but lovely), and 2 string players as well as his drummer. Adam didn't tweak at the knobs tonight, but focused on his vocals and a guitar - which may have been because he wasn't feeling well. Crowd was more than happy to help out in that department. The sets were short (30min even for Owl City) but if that's only because he wasn't in top shape.. well, his music more than made up for it. Thanks for the Toronto show guys!

I wanted to buy him some tea!

I felt so bad that he was sick. You could tell that his throat killed, but he still put on a really good show and sucked it up. Unicorn kid was AWESOME - but I think they should have put Kate Havnevik first due to her slow vibe... After being all pumped from Unicorn kid it was hard to slow way down. Never the less, I loved it, and I hope he gets better!!! Toronto people aren't that rude, I swear. I was embarrassed when they started pretty much boo-ing when there was no encore.
