About

Vampire Weekend is a two-time Grammy-winning alternative rock band currently composed of frontman Ezra Koenig, bassist Chris Baio and drummer Chris Tomson. Emerging from the mid-aughts indie rock scene in New York City out of Columbia University, Vampire Weekend released their self-titled debut to immediate critical and commercial success in 2008, with the album debuting at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 and its breakout single “A-Punk” earning an RIAA platinum certification. The band’s 2010 follow-up Contra confirmed their ascent after debuting atop the Billboard 200, while the single “Cousins” became their first song to hit the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The band’s 2013’s effort Modern Vampires of the City similarly topped the Billboard 200 and garnered the band’s first Grammy Award. 2019’s Father of the Bride became their third album to debut at No. 1 and netted the band its second Grammy. Vampire Weekend released their fifth studio album Only God Was Above Us in April 2024, marking their fifth consecutive album to debut in the Top 40 on the Billboard 200. The group celebrated the release of their fifth album with a major North American tour in 2024, which saw the band play arenas around the country—including two hometown shows at New York City's Madison Square Garden.

  • Incredible Musicianship

by Joe James on 2024-10-06Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I've wanted to see Vampire Weekend for a long time, so I was already excited and had high expectations. However, their live show blew me out of the water! I had no idea the level of musicianship, playfulness and sheer musical bliss they'd be able to deliver. Starting the set as a tiny yet powerful trio, I was thrilled to dance and sway in the simplicity. But when the curtain dropped and the cadre of musical companions joined the ruckus, the air was filled with a symphony of sound unlike no other. They had some secret weapons in their band that elevated the album songs to an entirely extra special level. The set list was insane, even before we got to the eccentric encore selections. The joy was undeniable and I encourage every music fan to go delight in this expression of musical prowess. A top 10, maybe 5 all-time concert for me. (And I've seen Prince many times).

OMG - LOVED the show! Even better than Echo Beach one. Love how they interact with the crowd and make it feel like a private concert. Thanks VW - Toronto Loves You! BTW, we all need the 'Only Canada Was Above Us' shirts!

  • Pretty Damn Good

by Jamie on 2024-09-29Place Bell - LavalRating: 4 out of 5

I went to see the opening act, The Cults, and was very impressed with Vampire Weekend afterward! It was a lovely show and it was on a Wednesday night and the band had my energy way up! It was pretty damn good! The flashing lights were a lot though, at some points I had to shut my eyes, but the lighting visuals were generally really cool!

  • Great energy!

Wonderful energy and great performance. We didn’t know the band and we were greatly impressed!

  • Wow, excellent show!

by Kimster on 2024-09-28Place Bell - LavalRating: 5 out of 5

These musicians and songwriters are excellent. I was reminded of English Beat and Paul Simon. They definitely have a ska sound, but they mix in classical music compositions. They also have a folksy, punk and reggae sound. You're tone deaf if you don't find yourself bopping to their beats. So, I got an earful of different genres and all were played professionally. They like to surprise you during the show with backdrop changes, add band members in stages, and the lighting was well-synced.

  • Great concert

by Vany on 2024-09-28Place Bell - LavalRating: 4 out of 5

Amazing experience, with many “parts” to the concert of VW! I like a lot the encore with special requests/jam session vibe. The first prt was good but the sound was a bit too bassy due to the big space lack of people still arriving Would let crowd sitting down go to parterre for this

  • Absolute masterpiece of a concert 👌

by Erik on 2024-09-28Place Bell - LavalRating: 5 out of 5

They played so many songs with a lot of instruments involved the quality of the audio was on point, even perfect I should say. I had a blast, will come back to Place Bell anytime and for sure, I will keep going at Vampires Weekend concerts if they're playing in my area.
