About

PAM TILLIS IN CONCERT:

Grammy-winning country singer-songwriter Pam Tillis is Nashville born and bred, and her heritage is on full display at her live shows. Tillis boasts an impressive pedigree – her father is famed country singer Mel Tillis, and her boot-stomping performances, exuding plenty of downhome pride and tradition, are the next best thing to a trip to Music City. Taking the stage with an acoustic guitar, Tillis wrings every last drop of emotion from finely crafted cuts like "Maybe It Was Memphis" and "Shake the Sugar Tree." Meanwhile her band whips up a high-energy mix of slide guitar, violin, bass, and drums that perfectly complements her relaxed vocals and unhurried delivery. It's a no-frills country party any time Pam Tillis performs, and ticket buyers are never disappointed by her arresting voice and feel-good stage presence.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Growing up the daughter of a country star, Pam Tillis was immersed in the Nashville music scene from the get-go. She made her singing debut at the Grand Ole Opry at age 8, and by her teens she was writing songs and playing the piano and guitar. She cut her teeth in the early '70s penning tunes for artists like Gloria Gaynor and Chaka Khan, and in 1981 she signed to Warner Bros. Records. Her 1983 debut album didn't make much of an impact, but she found chart success mid-decade with a string of non-album singles including "Those Memories of You" and "There Goes My Love." She signed to Arista Nashville in 1989, kicking off a successful period that included the Top 10 albums Put Yourself in My Place (1991) and Sweetheart's Dance (1994), the latter of which contained her first No. 1 single "Mi Vida Loca (My Crazy Life)." Since then she's remained prolific, touring extensively and impressing fans with albums like 2013's Dos Divas, a celebrated collection of duets recorded with Lorrie Morgan.

I felt like I was part of the concert, as Pam and Lorrie made me feel right at home and their banter was so great! The music and their voices are amazing! I didn’t particularly like the Venue, even though the acoustics were good. Seats not elevated, so very difficult to see. And the group behind us should have kept their singing to themselves so that they didn’t overpower the real entertainers. I will not likely be returning anytime soon.

  • Lorrie and Pam ? respect for fans

Concert was to start at 8 PM. Opening act came out shortly after 8 PM sang 3 songs. Then nothing happened, no MC to tell us what was going on. Lorrie and Pam never came out until 8:45 no explanation as to why they were so late. Played for 1 hr 15 minutes. They are amazing singers, but this is no way to treat fans. We paid good money to come to the show.

  • Pam & Lorrie - Awesome Show

by Filledy on 2015-05-12Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan are first class entertainers. This was one of the best shows I have seen in years. Definitely would attend another show, should they come back here. The band (doubling as back up singers) demonstrated their multi talents, which were awesome. I was pleasantly surprised to see the one and only male musician was from Calgary, and what a talent he is on the acoustic lead guitar. All in all, this was more than a 10 show!

  • Classy Women

by Shumway on 2015-05-12Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Very well done show, with 2 artists that are truly classy leaders for their time. They both still have style and class, and are not 'too big for their britches" and remember where they came from and who got them there. \the combination of songs and banter was great and \i could have spent much more time, if they had made the show longer. Only criticism was that we did not hear Sweethearts Dance, and Faithfully, but I guess they have to draw the line somewhere. Awesome show ladies!

  • Very enjoyable!!!

Pam put on a very personal show with her fans. She had a meet and greet with us and others which was very down to earth and special. She looks great and still has that fabulous voice. With all else going on at Fan Fair Nashville it was too bad that the Wild Horse Saloon wasn't packed with such a country name as Pam Tillis but we sure were glad that we got tickets for her show, unforgettable. Always a fan and listener to her music. AJ
