Patrick Watson composes, performs, and records his albums with his long-time bandmate and collaborator and multi-instrumentalist Mishka Stein and Olivier Fairfield. The Canadian artist reached gold and platinum status in multiple countries (including five certified gold albums in Canada), and his shows sell out around the world. Over the course of his career, Patrick has retained the uncanny ability to coexist in mainstream pop-culture spaces and on the avant-garde fringes. Patrick's songs have been featured in primetime crowd-pleasers like Grey's Anatomy and This Is Us, as well as in multiple arthouse films from Denis Villeneuve (Polytechnique), Wim Wenders (Perfect Days), and Philippe Falardeau (C'est pas moi, je le jure!) and more. He's an artist who's as comfortable performing impromptu pop-up shows on the train tracks in a Quebec mining town as he is leading the BBC Orchestra at London's prestigious Barbican. He's an in-demand composer with over 15 film scores under his belt. He was awarded the prestigious inaugural Impact Award at the 2024 Canadian Sync Awards. Watson's viral single Je te laisserai des mots became the first francophone song to accumulate 1 billion streams on Spotify.
His international profile has been raised by media appearances in several key markets. He's been featured on billboards in New York's Times Square, performed at an NPR Tiny Desk Concert, and was called "an outstanding storyteller" by legendary All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen. Patrick has also made TV appearances on Taratata (France 2), France TV Info La Matinale, and hosted an episode of BBC Music Life Podcast in the UK with guests Weyes Blood, Flume, Caroline Shaw, and more.
Patrick Watson's 2006 Polaris Music Prize-winning breakthrough, Close to Paradise, is a defining document of the fabled post-Y2K Montreal indie scene, a magical memento of an era when rent was still cheap and creativity was pouring out of every storefront gallery space on the Plateau. But as much as he seemed to embody the whimsical spirit of the flaneur roaming the depanneur-lined streets of Montreal, Patrick has since amassed an expansive and eclectic body of work--from the art-folk odysseys of 2009's Wooden Arms to the cosmic synth-washed songcraft of 2015's Love Songs for Robots, to his latest Better in the Shade, featuring the beautiful piano anthem Ode to Vivian.
But whether you discovered Patrick Watson through your local indie record shop, a movie soundtrack, a social-media video, a European music festival, his hit collaboration with Cinematic Orchestra (2007's "To Build a Home"), or through his appearance alongside Patti Smith and Michael Stipe at the 2021 Pathway to Paris all-star benefit concert, his music has a similar effect on all who enter his kaleidoscopic sound-world. The songs of Patrick Watson transform your everyday surroundings into your own imaginary wonderland, translating stress and sorrow into joy, and helping you find peace within the chaos of modern life.

It was magical show!! The amphithéâtre de base de rock is à beautiful and magical place to see Patrick Watson in show
Patrick Watson is an audience’s MAN. I saw him in both Toronto and Montreal and he makes us giggle— his band is amazing and he always attaches stories and sentiments to his songs. The bird sounds when he does big bird in a small cage is probably my favourite part- i recommend.
I went to this show with my gf and arrived 10min before the start of the show so it was packed. Although we couldn’t see the stage well, the performance from Patrick Watson was so brilliant that it made us forget all about it! Would highly recommend going to see him :)
Un grand génie de la musique… si vous avez la chance de le voir et l’entendre… ne le manquez surtout pas ! 😉
Un génie musical! Il y a longtemps que je n’avais vu une aussi belle performance et ambiance au niveau musical, j'entends. C'était mon premier show de Watson. Mais la salle MTelus c'est de la m... Beaucoup trop de monde surtout quand on mesure 1m52!!!
Patrick Watson is amazing. He did a very good show, was very generous as he was on stage a full 2 h.. A wide range of old and new songs letting his collaborators shine. The only downside is the venue. A significant number of people need to stand for the entire show, it is not a choice. 15 min after doors open, all seats are taken. Some kind of system or another venue ( redesigning?) might be looked into.
Il donne tellement un bon show la première partie était pas mon genre du tout mais le reste du show c’était fou la salle était parfaite et adapté à tous j’ai vraiment aimé mon expérience prochain show j’y vais sans hésiter !!!
It was a super lovely evening hearing all my favorite songs. Great performances by the whole band and all the guests who joined in.
Great show. Patrick Watson is an incredible singer and a musician genius.
Another magical musical performance by Montreal's mad musical genius, Patrick Watson. Fantastic event. Only problem was the constant running of the industrial hand dryers up in the washrooms of the balcony of the M Telus hall. Kind of absurd how the management of M Telus don't know enough to turn off the airplane engines masquerading as hand dryers during a show. All that aside...if you get a chance to see Patrick Watson you've got to take it!!!
Thats it, just wowwwwwww One of the best concerts I ever saw
C'était parfait musique, effets , invités, etc... rien a dire a part que j'ai adoré
After seeing Patrick Watson for the second time, he is one of the best artist ever. So magical and talented. However, this is the SECOND time that I go to Mtelus and the place is WAYY to crowded. Even with a seat, there is people pushing, being glued to one and other, way to close and pack.
As I've attended many of Patrick Watson's shows in the past. I have found the sound system to be lacking at really bringing out the pureness of the instruments and vocals. Otherwise, giving us a head's up about the opening band would've been nice also, I am not at an age where I can stand for more than 3 hours anymore.
One of the best nights of my life, live music so beautiful I was crying... and wasn't the only one. Much love and trust me you won't regret it
The concert was incredible! Not only were Patrick Watson great (as expected), the venue and the stage configuration was a perfect complement to each song. The concert felt very intimate even with the scale of the venue, thanks to Patrick exuding his genuine energy on stage and speaking to everyone in between performances. All of the songs performed were better than the originals, in their arrangement and instrumentation, and Im already missing listening to them! They even performed an improvisational song about rainbow boots after getting somr topics from the crowd! It was amazing and hilarious! Would definitely recommend a Patrick Watson concert to anyone looking for a good time. Their music is so diverse that theres something for everyone! Hope to see them in Toronto again soon!
With Omicron running rampant this concert should have been postponed again. Heartbreaking but true. Didn’t go as I didn't want to take the risk.
Everything about that concert was a true masterpiece! I definitely want to go to more of his concerts!
What a wonderful evening of gorgeous surprises: one after the other. Al orchestrated by the impish, giddy, humble and unique Patrick Watson. A super talented group of musicians ( those back up vocals!!!!) and the unsung other star of the show: the lighting made for a very trippy evening. Who IS the lighting designer anyhow?!?! Whoever they are, they deserve a round of applause! Thank you for a wonderful small oasis in a sea of COVID bleakness.
