    Blown away

    by Frinky2307 on 2015-12-21Metropolis - Montreal

This was our second time seeing the band live as we first saw them this past summer at Osheaga but only viewed from far away. For this show, we were right in front of the subwoofers about 6 ft from the stage. The band was just as I expected at Osheaga but in a closed venue, they surpassed all expectations and blew us both away. Patrick was funny and genuine in his interactions with audience and his clear love for music is shared by his band mates who put on an amazing show taking their music to a whole other level. Everybody in the audience was completely transfixed by the intensity of it all. I am more than pleased that I chose to see them twice this year and hope they come back soon.

    Great night

    by Acclaim1990 on 2015-12-18Metropolis - Montreal

I discovered Patrick Watson few years back at the Jazz festival. It's the second time I see him live. I wanted the next time to be in a more intimate venue. It was a great show. The sound was great and the ambiance was warm. He's definitely better live than on cd. Must see if you are a fan. Pros: Great sound, Great feel, perfect venue for this type of show Cons: Tight up crowd (miss my metal crowd), a bit short, painful magician opening act

    Simple and Inspiring

by Paul123 on 2015-10-03The Garrick Centre - Winnipeg

The opener (I forget the name) was overly dramatic. Not my thing, but some people in the crowd seemed to enjoy the band. Patrick Watson was incredible (as usual). The stage wasn't cluttered with too many props and the simplistic lighting just made you focus in on the beautiful atmospheric music played. I'm a fan of the folksier side of Watson so I loved when all of his backing band crowded around one mike and let the harmonies flow.

    Patrick Watson is In-freakin-credible

    by witchblade721 on 2012-12-09Massey Hall - Toronto

I've been to tons of shows, this one definitely topped my list of favourites. Not only is Patrick Watson ridiculously charming on stage but his concerts are all-around entertaining. It doesn't seem at all forced or overly rehearsed. From his side banter, the random guests he brings on with him, the beauty of the music itself to the minutes-long jam sessions that really showcase the talents of everyone on stage, the show had a very organic feel and, as cheesy as it sounds, it was really fun. The only complaints I have are that for many of the songs the lights were blaring directly in my eyes repeatedly which was painful at times, and the volume was MUCH louder than necessary it actually reduced the sound quality and blurred a lot of it together at times which is a shame. Ultimately I could go on about the awesomeness of the show overall, but then I'd be gushing - just go see him, it will change your life and remind you that real and pure musicians still do exist out there.

    must watch at least once

by grump on 2012-12-08Massey Hall - Toronto

Loved the show - the Patrick Watson Band is such a unique ensemble, you'd be silly not to experience it at least once. All members are extremely talented, Patrick Watson was very chatty (and just the right amount of giddy!), and the choir that they invited to join from Montreal was wonderful. Great lighting show as well and what a venue to watch this band play in!!

    INCREDIBLE

    by ellas1111 on 2012-12-08Massey Hall - Toronto

This show was nothing less than incredible. The venue was perfect for the band's kind of music. I've never been to concert where I had goosebumps the entire time. I would see Patrick Watson again in a heartbeat!!

    Patrick Watson is a genius!

    by willy112 on 2012-12-08Massey Hall - Toronto

Thursday night's show was truly one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Watson led the adoring crowd through a musical journey of crescendos and quiet moments that showed both the sheer talent of all the band members as well as their proficiency for creating a mood and blowing the roof off of Massey Hall at the same time.

Patrick Watson - loved the concert

by Fungus on 2012-06-15The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

First time attended a Patrick Watson concert and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The band was so casual and relaxed it felt like they were playing at home for a group of friends. Will definitely see them again in December.

Patrick Watson carries you into his world!

by CanadaPoulin on 2012-06-14The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Great Show! Great Sound! Patrick Watson is very comfortable with the crowd and has a very quarky sense of humour. The light show was a little tiring after a while as the light from the projectors beamed into the balconies on either side. The lighting set, however create a very cool effect!

Patrick Watson: Careful Craft and Orchestration

by RyannGinger on 2012-06-13The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Patrick Watson begins with ridiculously complex orchestrations. Then his band animates them with tension and depth. Then he dresses the stage with apt and eloquent lighting to translate the songs further, adding even abstract cinematography projected from the stage to the walls of the music hall. He laces all the songs together with easy banter and endless wit. A guest arrives to contribute to a song here, the band leaves to create space for another song there... Constant movement, and always in the right direction. It's as if they're flying a plane. And though the best laid plans, and the best practiced bands, are always challenged with unforeseen obstacles -say, poor grounding in the stage lighting causing a hum to swell through the monitors to the point that even the audience in the back can hear, or perhaps a fire alarm that sounds several times throughout the encore- Patrick and the Wooden Arms manage to mount these challenges and ride them to the show's conclusion with genuine character and generous laughter, never once allowing it to taint their talent. Patrick Watson and the Wooden Arms refuse to disappoint.

    Musical Brilliance

The band performed brilliantly. The performance was almost magical. I love Patrick's sense of humour on stage and dealing with some untimely fire bells!
