About

Paul Brandt, the Canadian cowboy crooner from Calgary, Alberta, became an international country music star with his 1996 debut album Calm Before the Storm. The former pediatric nurse had embarked to Nashville a year prior to hone his craft, and the endeavor led to two Top 10 singles on the Hot Country Songs chart: his debut single “My Heart Has a History” and its immediate follow-up “I Do,” which reached a career peak at No. 2 on the chart. Calm Before the Storm charted on the Billboard 200 and was eventually certified gold by the RIAA. Following subsequent releases like 1997’s Outside the Frame and 1999’s That’s the Truth, Brandt started his own Brand-T record label and self-produced projects such as his 2007 Juno Award-winning album Risk and the 2012 gospel-infused Just As I Am. In 2018, he released the ambitious two-part EP series The Journey YYC, Vol. 1 and The Journey BNA, Vol. 2. Throughout his nearly three-decade career, Brandt has collaborated with Keith Urban, Lindsay Ell, Deana Carter, John Anderson and more.

    Blocked View

by CountryFan23 on 2023-11-30National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

As much as my wife loves country music, I thought it would be a good idea that we got tickets to see Terri Clark and Paul Brandt. Not too familiar with their music, but did recognize of their songs, it was good music. However, our seats weren’t the greatest. My wife had issues even seeing the stage as she was blocked by two heads and the controller area. The guy controlling the sound had a buddy there with baby and they were stood most of the time, so it was hard for my wife to see. This was a real downfall for her. And last there is amazing show at the NAC we will not be choosing the seats again. Terri Clark and Paul Brandt did put on a very good show that we heard and could not see.

Terri Clark and Paul Brandt brilliant

by Jacques on 2023-11-29National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

I love Paul Brandt, and I'm not even a fan of country music. But I've seen him three times and he always puts on a great show. He's so good with the crowd, funny and humble. Terri has quite the voice. Loved them together.

    Truly a Homecoming

by SusanJovan on 2023-11-29FirstOntario Concert Hall - Hamilton

The format was a singer songwriter theatre in the round where Clark and Brandt shared personal stories that inspired their songs and highlights of their musical careers. It was an opportunity to get to know the artists. Their friendly banter helped engage and entertain fans making us all feel like we were an important part of their "Homecoming Tour".

    Acoustics

by Coco on 2023-11-29National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Our seats were in balcony and I found for many, of the songs you could not hear the lyrics. The music from instruments was to loud, and it overpowered the singing of the songs.

A nice evening but no performance.

by Jerry on 2023-11-28The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Paul Brandt and Terri Clark are two talented people for sure, and they were a crowd hit, but as newer fans of Country music (this was our first concert) we would have enjoyed it more if the artists spent 5 minutes or so just warming up the audience with something personal in their backgrounds to lead into their first song. We also enjoy it when the artist provides a little background to their music - what prompted it or inspired them etc. They did this for a few songs but could have done more. Finally, this is the only criticism - the whole show consisted of the two talented artists sitting in chairs. There was no performance to speak of. When artists stand and move around on the stage you get to see how the music moves them and you get more into it yourself. There is more audience connection when artists do this and we missed that element in this concert. Most of the time it felt like we were looking at the top of cowboy hats and not being able to tell if the artist were making much of a connection to the audience. The one time Paul Brandt stood up and approached the front of the stage everyone cheered. There is a message in that. It would also have been more entertaining if there was accompanying artists playing along but that is just a personal preference and not a criticism. All-in-all a pleasant night that just fell short of being memorable.

    AMAZING

by Victor on 2023-11-28National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

The Terri Clark, Paul Brant Homecoming Tour concert is AMAZING. First, you have two very very talented musicians performing the hits of their careers. They are friends which gives a fantastic energy and they work in some running comedy all through the show. I have been to three concerts this year and this was by far the best one (and that includes having seen Shania). I had the very real pleasure of meeting Terri and Paul and even though it was only for a minute it was amazing, they are so friendly. I would love to see them come back because I would love to go see them again.

    Terri Clark & Paul Brandt

by TBozz on 2023-11-28National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Venue (NAC) was cozy and personal. Paul and Terri took us on a wonderful journey through beautiful ‘naked’ music. They were perfect complements to each others songs and abilities. Beautifully voices, beautiful music, beautiful/fun/personal banter between Terri and Paul. I initially felt disappointment building within, as I’m used to seeing one band open for another. This was an experience I quickly learned to love. The evening you both created for me will not soon be forgotten. Excellent, excellent, excellent work and performance!!

    Great acoustic show!

by CharDust on 2023-11-28National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Had a great time at the show. We were surprised that it was an acoustic show, had no idea. It was tons of fun between all of the stories, hilarious banter and decades of amazing songs, some forgotten. Plus, old friends of ours were sitting two seats down!

    Loved it!

by Shellann on 2023-11-28National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Loved this concert! A great stripped down style so it felt like being a living room. Both Paul and Terry had a great sense of humour and you could tell they are great friends. Loved this Canadian duo and would go again!
