Paul Williams Wonderful- Event seating not so much
by Anonymous on 2017-10-23The Metropolitan Entertainment Centre - WinnipegFirstly- Paul Williams was truly wonderful! At 77 and not really performing publicly much- he was so endearing! I have loved him since a kid before I came to Canada (from Texas). My husband introduced me to Phantom of the Paradise. He's loved it his whole life (in Winnipeg). So glad we got a chance to see him perform and honor this crazy amazing film. SECONDLY- the MET REALLY needs to do something about the seating plan. Not sure if the way they handled this is the norm... We had two gen. admission floor seats. We are told to take a seat at a table with no name cards. MOST had been reserved. When I bought my tickets I tried for the LIMITED VIP and they were gone in seconds. We arrived before the start time of 5 pm. Finally, after searching a while found 2 seats at a table for 4 that weren't taken. The other 2 had jackets...so we left our jackets on the empty spots , got our food at the buffet and came back to no seats. The people said they had pushed the chairs in...hmmm...ok..Searched again walking around with plates of food. NO ASSISTANCE AT ALL. FINALLY found 2 seats way at the back NOT IMPRESSED!!! There has to be a better way!!! $100+ a seat and we had to fend for ourselves. NOT FUN. Anyway, the food was good and the show was WONDERFUL. Gloria- who plans Phantompalooza does a wonderful job. It was the MET that needed to do it's job. I was told by the Met's Facebook page that people with groups were allowed to reserve tables. Well...then maybe have someone there showing guests that weren't groups where few remaining seats are instead of leaving them to wander around.
