Providing feedback on the full experience so that it hopefully helps others:
1. Snacks and food were weak / not a lot of selection...we thought we wouldn't be allowed external food so planned to purchase there, but it looks like there was not a restriction on this so...bring snacks to the show!
2. Having an 8 foot tall dad in front of you or your toddler and making the view difficult is impossible to avoid - fortunately the Jube had booster seats (YAY!) - unfortunately they had a LIMITED amount and so we had to make do without despite our pint sizer.
3. There was no program indicating intermission time, break, etc. We were a bit in the dark.
4. The music and performance were GREAT! Good songs, funny, entertaining, great visuals - our kiddo loved it. Cast was exceptional - engaged (even the 'dog operators'), dynamic, animated - it made a huge difference. The whole thing from a performance perspective was very well done and perfectly balanced. This is, we hope, a catalyst to a lifelong appreciation for performing arts we hope to instill in our daughter.
5. We like the diversity Paw Patrol offers as a book (having a female POC as the Mayor, etc.) - we were happy to see that the cast was equally diverse.
6. My biggest issue here...merchandise. Like you KNOW kids want everything, and the prices were - wait for it - MORE EXPENSIVE THAN DISNEYLAND EVEN WITH THE CURRENCY EXCHANGE. This was ridiculous. I will blow money on souveniers for the kiddo even if they're expensive so that she has mementos, but this was beyond ridiculous. A light spinner - $11 at Master Mind Toys, $15US in Disneyland was $35 CAD. We are in a financial position to make these things work without discomfort, and still opted not to, and I am a capitalist through and through but this was literally taking advantage of people (ALBERTA IS IN A RECESSION AND PEOPLE ARE STRUGGLING). The ticket prices were $50 / each for the balcony which was not cheap at all, plus the merch markup....I'm not sure if this was the Jube or the Paw Patrol org, but whoever it was (I still need to figure this out) is an organization I will think twice about supporting solely based on this. Our kid is spoiled, but we literally just got back from Disneyland and you were tracking 50% higher than their merch prices...come ON.
5/5 for the cast, composers, costume & set design, and choreographers.
1/5 for the 'extensions' otherwise.
