English comedian Peter Kay has worn many hats throughout this lifetime, working in a toilet roll factory, a bingo hall — you name the job, odds are that Kay has probably done it. However, he claims he was ultimately let go from all for “not taking things seriously,” thus leading to his fated pivot into stand-up comedy. Garnering national recognition after winning the North West Comedian of the Year award in 1997, Kay went on to collect various accolades, including the Outstanding Contribution to Comedy Award at the 2009 British Comedy Awards, Most Popular Comedy Series at the 2016 National Television Awards and Best Male Comedy Performance at the 2016 British Academy Television Awards. On top of his comedic work, Kay has written, produced, directed and acted in various television and film projects along with being the published author of three books. Now recognized as one of the UK’s most ingenious comics, Kay’s humor and wit precede him in everything he does.
