Fantastic show, everything about it was spectacular
The fair was fun! But lineups were very long! Food was great. Reklaws… why did you play your best 2 songs FIRST!?!?! I hear from others there were lots of errors this year. Just doesn’t have that small town rodeo feel anymore.
was disappointed in crash cooper. he is the rodeo clown/ entertainer. he did a poor job
Took the kids to the Rodeo. So much fun. Tickets were priced well. Fun for the whole family. Ponoka knows how to put on a show !
We did the Chuckwagons one night and the Stampede the next afternoon and took our grandkids (11 and 14) Chucks were great! Stampede was exceptionally well run and well paced and alternated the different events to keep the kids interested- eg the trick riders / mounted balloon shoot and young ladies flag riding.
The crowds were handled efficiently and courtiouly. The Ponoka Stampede people put on a quality show. The women and men who compete are amazing athletes to watch. A great part of Alberta's culture.
Loved it, fantastic and entertaining. This was my first time at the Ponoka Stampede, it was great. Looking forward to next year already... Could perhaps expand the sound speakers from the big one's at the ends of the grandstand, to smaller speakers all along in the roof covering, maybe? Just future improvement idea...
Well organized event, no delays in between events. The grandstands were great, enjoyed the cover over to protect from sun and rain. The trick riders were amazing, and the chuck wagons ran like clockwork. Very experienced drivers, no incidents even though some races were very close. Quite enjoyable!
Excellent event all around. Missed chariot races. Takes too long to start concert.
Excellent event all around. Missed the gun shooting competition.
It was a great time at the Ponoka Stampede. Went to watch the Chuckwagon Races and Colter Wall Wednesday night. Both were great!!! Sask boy Colter Wall put on a great show with his old country style music WOW!!! Gives a person the shivers. Went to the Rodeo on Thursday and it wasn't long enough. It was such a blast I could have kept watching for a while yet.
Was a very enjoyable time but the ticket scanners were glitchy & the stands need more room in the foot area to allow easier access to your seats without disturbing other spectators.
The rodeo was good but the 3 and a half hours of chuckwagons was waaaaay too long. We stayed till 10pm and the concert had not started yet so we went home.
Great venue. The bucking horses, bulls, roping events & barrel racing were thrilling. The exhibition shooting, wild horse races and racing were exhilarating. My favorite was the chuck wagon races were our favourite. We will make this a yearly stop in the future
Coming from the UK, attending a stampede was like something from a different world but the day (afternoon and evening) was an absolute joy. The seats (buckin' chutes) were great. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole occasion and, should the chance arise, certainly do it again.
Can’t beat this great western experience. Horses running, wagons rolling, feet pounding!Great music , food and atmosphere.
We always go to opening night and the following day we go to the 1 PM Rodeo and 6:30 PM Chuck Wagon races. That is enough rodeo for us. I really liked that this year seemed to focus more on Rodeo and less on novelty acts, like herding buffalo onto the top of a truck. All other Rodeo aspects and events were great. We always sit above the bull shoots and have a great seat. As we get older climbing all those stairs to get to the infield and then up into the stands is getting difficult. Disabled access could be better. This is probably our last year at the Rodeo, not because it was not excellent, but because my wife likely won't be able to walk that far next year. We have been to Rodeos in Edmonton, Medicine Hat, Leduc, CALGARY, and Ponoka. We rank Ponoka as our number one choice. Reasonable price, you get close to the action, and you see the same athletes that will be at the Calgary Stamped.
