Porcupine Tree on Tour

Rediscover the progressive music of one of Britain's most innovative and universally admired rock bands, Porcupine Tree. After being on hiatus for over a decade, Porcupine Tree will be officially returning to the stage as a three-piece outfit made up of frontman Steve Wilson, drummer Gavin Harrison and keyboardist Richard Barbier. All three were members of the band during the last Porcupine Tree tour in support of The Incident (2009), their commercially triumphant studio album that climbed up the charts and reached the the Top 25 on the U.S. and UK charts. Between 2002 and 2010, this long-standing lineup released at least five original albums, reissued another three remastered versions, put out several EPs, created their own record label, performed multiple live demos, and even added a handful of live concert films to their impressive body of work. They became masters of their ambient, electronic soundscapes, remastering albums like In Absentia (2002) with a 5.1 surround-sound version that later won the award for Best 5.1 Mix at the 2004 Surround Sound Music awards. Other accomplishments include a nomination for Best Surround Sound Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards and winning Album of the Year at the Classic Rock Magazine Awards for Fear of a Blank Planet (2007). Fans who remember seeing Porcupine Tree live in concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 2010 (their biggest show ever and final performance before the group's hiatus) will testify to the flawless execution of their ethereal but dramatic songs -- some of which span well over 15 minutes long -- with an ability to enter your mind and place you in a mesmerizing trance, your focus channeled on the visuals, while the vocals and instruments carry you away with shivers down your spine. Now is your chance to see Porcupine Tree in concert on their reunion tour as they travel across the country and prepare for what could be their final bow.

Porcupine Tree Live in Concert

Steve Wilson originally formed Porcupine Tree in 1987 using the pseudonym as an outlet for his psychedelic pop solo recordings. The project evolved into a proper band in the early 1990s. The expansion to Porcupine Tree's lineup allowed Wilson to explore his musical genius both in the studio on record and live onstage. Led by relentless creativity and a stubborn refusal to give the people merely more of what they wanted, Wilson continuously pushed the envelope on musical experimentation. He steered their early songs away from an original style resonant with psychedelic space rock and steered the band in a more progressive direction similar to that of Pink Floyd. Porcupine Tree's sound evolved almost as often as the band changed record labels, bouncing between Delerium, Snapper, Lava, Roadrunner, Atlantic, and Kscope, to name just a few. After signing with Kscope, they leaned into more of the mainstream, alternative rock genre with influences from the Beach Boys, then switched to progressive metal following a deal with Lava/Atlantic records in 2002. During the reformation announcement back in November 2021, Porcupine Tree simultaneously released their new single "Harridan," a prequel to their 2022 album Closure/Continuation.

Porcupine at La Place Bell, Montreal

by Catherine on 2022-09-16Place Bell - Laval

I bought these tickets for my husband. This is his favourite band of all time. When he found out they were touring again after 12 years and after he never thought he'd get the chance to see them, we jumped on the opportunity to see them. We flew from NS and anticipated the concert together. All I can say is WOW. Porcupine Tree performs so incredibly that I found myself really loving the band after the concert. The lights, the sounds, the stage performance, the song choices, the whole thing was magical. Our only regret is that we don't have more tickets to see another show! I think Porcupine Tree is severely underrated and everyone should see them live. LOVED IT!!!!!

Je ne suis pas trop techno et je suis loin d'être convaincu que les billets téléphone sont plus rapide. Heureusement on peut toujours faire imprimer nos billets en carton en souvenir.

    Incredible

by Sergio on 2022-09-15Place Bell - Laval

Place Bell is not in Montreal but it should be, that venue is perfect and the sound is truly perfect, you can enjoy the musical genius of that band. They did it right with no opening act and a small intermission. The visual and light show was amazing.Well done, great evening.

by PatD on 2022-09-15Place Bell - Laval

This band is just excellent on every point. A great performance by great musicians, and superb sound quality wich is not always the case in live shows (and for heavier style of music!). Thanks to Steven Wilson for giving us the opportunity to watch this project of his , once again.

    An excellent prog rock show!

by Proglover on 2022-09-15Place Bell - Laval

I've been following S Wilson for a long time. This is my 1st show with Porcupine Tree. The show was lengthy with a 30 min pause. The guys (Steven Wilson, Gavin Harrisson and Richard Barbieri) gave it all for their return on the stage. They were 'complted' by 2 excellent musicians (guitar and bass) Nothing was spared. You saw the setlist? Chimera Wreck closed the fisrt part. For me, this alone was worth the show as I really really love it. It was played exactly as on the album. The played all the songs from Closure/Continuation. Second part was full of hits and also very generous. I loved it and would return tomorrow if I could. It was visually quite striking with a huge screen behind the band. The only disappointment for me was the stage itself. Well done and all but it lacked walls around it to add intimacy, to make me fully live the show. I was in the middle of a big arena, i would have preferred a theatre like scene. That is the only concern about the show. No glitch, no mistake. Excellent show with the best music that there is.

    Superb band. Must see

High energy rock, intricate progressive rock, moments of acoustic brilliance. Top notch. Porcupine tree possibly at their very best sound.

    Sans faute d'un bout à l'autre

by Raphael on 2022-09-15Place Bell - Laval

    Super show

by Ren on 2022-09-15Place Bell - Laval

Tous de très bons musiciens, spécialement Steven Wilson (très sympathique aussi...) et le drummer. Excellent son et très bonne performance en général. J'ai beaucoup apprécié 'Anesthesize'. Finalement, il ne manquait que 'Arriving Somewhere but Not Here', pour 'mon' show parfait !

    Overall great but nothing amazing

by John on 2022-09-15Place Bell - Laval

The performance itself wasn't wow, musicians were here because they had to. Still they delivered a 2h30 show. Strange vibe in the arena, back and forth from people, not much respect for the musicians so maybe they felt it.

Excellent performance. Great to hear all the new material live and some killer classics. After 12 years, it felt like they hadn't skipped a beat together. Reenergized as a group. Talented musicians. Sounded great. Well done return to the stage. Looking forward to next time already.

    Amazing show!

by LB on 2022-09-14Meridian Hall - Toronto

What a treat to see PT live. I got into them about 5 yrs ago and never thought I would get to see them play live. If you’re on the fence about whether to go, do it. Sound was good, set list touched on different eras, with a focus on the new album. The touring additions Randy and Nate were excellent. No opening act. About 2.5 hours of music with a 20 minute break in the middle. Visuals were excellent, even considering the opening night glitches.

    The Legacy of Porcupine Tree

by Protagonist on 2022-09-13Meridian Hall - Toronto

My favourite band of all time. This was the best concert I have ever experienced. I discovered Porcupine Tree in 2009 through my best friend from high school. Their music was with me through good times and bad. I am so glad I could be part of their return! They played their entire new album and mixed in a great number of tunes from a variety of their previous albums. They clearly care a great deal to put on a show that is as near to perfect as possible. Steven was transparent about some technical difficulties, but made some jokes to give the crowd a good laugh. After all, it was their first show together in 12 years and actually went incredibly well. Great venue, crisp sound, engaged crowd, and WOW what a band!
