Porcupine Tree on Tour

Rediscover the progressive music of one of Britain's most innovative and universally admired rock bands, Porcupine Tree. After being on hiatus for over a decade, Porcupine Tree will be officially returning to the stage as a three-piece outfit made up of frontman Steve Wilson, drummer Gavin Harrison and keyboardist Richard Barbier. All three were members of the band during the last Porcupine Tree tour in support of The Incident (2009), their commercially triumphant studio album that climbed up the charts and reached the the Top 25 on the U.S. and UK charts. Between 2002 and 2010, this long-standing lineup released at least five original albums, reissued another three remastered versions, put out several EPs, created their own record label, performed multiple live demos, and even added a handful of live concert films to their impressive body of work. They became masters of their ambient, electronic soundscapes, remastering albums like In Absentia (2002) with a 5.1 surround-sound version that later won the award for Best 5.1 Mix at the 2004 Surround Sound Music awards. Other accomplishments include a nomination for Best Surround Sound Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards and winning Album of the Year at the Classic Rock Magazine Awards for Fear of a Blank Planet (2007). Fans who remember seeing Porcupine Tree live in concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 2010 (their biggest show ever and final performance before the group's hiatus) will testify to the flawless execution of their ethereal but dramatic songs -- some of which span well over 15 minutes long -- with an ability to enter your mind and place you in a mesmerizing trance, your focus channeled on the visuals, while the vocals and instruments carry you away with shivers down your spine. Now is your chance to see Porcupine Tree in concert on their reunion tour as they travel across the country and prepare for what could be their final bow.

Porcupine Tree Live in Concert

Steve Wilson originally formed Porcupine Tree in 1987 using the pseudonym as an outlet for his psychedelic pop solo recordings. The project evolved into a proper band in the early 1990s. The expansion to Porcupine Tree's lineup allowed Wilson to explore his musical genius both in the studio on record and live onstage. Led by relentless creativity and a stubborn refusal to give the people merely more of what they wanted, Wilson continuously pushed the envelope on musical experimentation. He steered their early songs away from an original style resonant with psychedelic space rock and steered the band in a more progressive direction similar to that of Pink Floyd. Porcupine Tree's sound evolved almost as often as the band changed record labels, bouncing between Delerium, Snapper, Lava, Roadrunner, Atlantic, and Kscope, to name just a few. After signing with Kscope, they leaned into more of the mainstream, alternative rock genre with influences from the Beach Boys, then switched to progressive metal following a deal with Lava/Atlantic records in 2002. During the reformation announcement back in November 2021, Porcupine Tree simultaneously released their new single "Harridan," a prequel to their 2022 album Closure/Continuation.

    Great band, great show

by AFBY Ace on 2022-09-13Meridian Hall - Toronto

Great band, great show. This was my first time seeing either a Porcupine Tree or Steven Wilson. It did not disappoint. They played the complete new album interspersed with selection spending the band’s entire career. They played for three glorious hours. Sound was incredible. Playing was incredible and we left the hall on an incredible high.

    Mind Blown!!

by Canascar on 2022-09-13Meridian Hall - Toronto

Hands down the best experience I’ve ever had in my 30 years of concert going. My kids are huge fans of Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree so this was a once in a lifetime experience for me to share with them as it was their first concert and to be a part of the first live group of people to see them play in 12 years was a very special moment that we will never forget. The show was masterfully done and the set list was incredible!! If this was your first introduction to Porcupine Tree I can guarantee that you are a fan now.

    Great concert, amazing show.

Music, lighting and everything presented by the band was astounding. Meridian Centre was a beautiful venue, but seating was very tight and uncomfortable for someone my age.

    Porcupine Tree Is Back!

    by P-Dog on 2022-09-13Meridian Hall - Toronto

Steven Wilson and his group did not disappoint. After a 12 year hiatus from playing live P.T. didn't miss a beat. They were tight and played a variety of tunes from their catalogue, they played "Closure/Continuation" their latest LP in its entirety. This group is a hidden gem in the neo-prog/alternative pop genres. If this is your jam, pay the money for a ticket and enjoy the show. You will NOT be disappointed.

After 12 years, what a thrill to be at the opener

by dobyblue on 2022-09-13Meridian Hall - Toronto

It's pretty awesome from time to time to see a band play a song for the first time, but when you get several of them? Like, the entire new album? Yeah, that's a thrill. Now add in that it's Porcupine Tree, a band that hasn't played a live show in over 12 years, whose frontman is a God for surround-sound fans across the globe? Porcupine Tree!! Harridan was early in the set, and immediately set the tone for the night. Newcomers to the band Nate Navarro on bass and Randy McStine on guitars meshed like they were old hands. We had some hiccups like video malfunctions with it being the first show, but Steven handled them in stride, engaged with the audience and ensured we had a good time. The sound mix was as you'd expect, practically perfect! Before the show and during the intermission the screen asked everyone to please keep their phones out of sight and be in the now and enjoy the show. How great to not see hundreds of crappy phones in your line of sight filming poor quality clips that barely anyone will watch? This along with Rage Against the Machine are the tours of 2022. Go see them!

    Porcupine Tree was amazing

    by A Damn D on 2022-09-13Meridian Hall - Toronto

Such a fantastic evening, wish they had done two nights. A couple hiccups with it being the first night of the long overdue tour, but all in all amazing. Such a fantastic band.

    Too many new songs!

by Radioactive Toy on 2022-09-13Meridian Hall - Toronto

When you are an “historical” band with 30 years of history and fans all over the world appreciating and loving you for what has been your discography you are simply disrespectful for your fan if you just want to sell your new album. 2-3 new songs would have been more than enough, in particular if this is a closure, more than a continuation… songs from older albums would have been loved by everyone

    all perfect but...

by jakub on 2022-09-13Meridian Hall - Toronto

the venue's security had no clue about working at a rock concert. Non-stop interfering with and bothering the audience (you cannot stand, you cannot dance, you cannot move) - distracting the spectators, speaking out loud, provoking. Absolute nightmare these guys. band's performance fantastic, venue's acoustic very good, but the security staff - to be fired immediately or at least banned forever from all concerts with the use of an electric guitar.

    Amazing!

    by Sam on 2022-09-11

This was my first time seeing Porcupine Tree play live and was amazed by the long set (over 3 hours with a 20 minute interval) and the energy the band had throughout the set. The visuals added to the overall experience. Definitely a band worth checking out for a live performance.

    Porcupine Tree in Toronto 2010

    by shooter17 on 2010-05-17Sound Academy - Toronto

I saw 2 shows. Montreal and Toronto. Montreal was a technicially perfect, sit down, WOW concert. It was visually stunning. Toronto was a stand up, powerful rock show with the same set list yet a tottally different feel. I was very fortunate to see both shows and come away with a new appreciation for the band. I enjoyed myself very much at both shows. It was a toss up over which I preferred but it's good to know they are diverse enough to play both styles. Though the second half of the Montreal show saw many fans standing and the venue allowed it. Everyone was very respectful and courteous. The sound was as crisp as humanly possible. I could hear every note from every player. Drums were my highlight. Very impressive !!

A twisted Christmas event or Amazing concert!

by Usivius on 2010-05-10Sound Academy - Toronto

Big Elf and Porcupine Tree at the Sound Academy, wow. I've seen Big Elf before during their last visit with Dream Theatre and Zappa, but seeing them in a smaller venue like this was awesome! Band charisma and great sound mix at the Academy made this a great show... their song list was pretty awesome too. Why don't these guys headline themselves?! Great show guys! Come back to TO! Procupine Tree. I have been a fan for only two years, but every album I pick up impresses me more and after repeated listens. My one critisism was that Mr. Wilson's voice never has the dynamic of the band's huge sound. He's often too laconic -- but, hey, that's PT, right? Well, I was delighted to see them live for the first time and impressed that Mr. Wilson could and would actually 'belt' out the vocals with emphasis and passion on many songs. The utter power of the band live is amazing. Reminds me of Crimson in a way, that they are able to create some great music on the recorded format, but it is live where they excell. Wow. the power is amazing, and the band is tighttighttight ... love it. And, Gavin ... wow, effortless drumming ... Fabulous show with a very cordial and enthusiastic audience. For once a TO audience didn't sit on it's hands. :)
