Crank Up The Volume - It'll Sound Better!
by rockingoodtime on 2015-08-07Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryAn unfortunate sound mixing event for a Great Canadian Band with nostalgic hits. The Sound Guy at the mixing board didn't quite understand DISTORTION and decided to crank up the gain levels on the drums and bass guitar beyond what the speakers could handle for a small venue like the Deerfoot Inn. This caused so much interference that it felt like being sound BLASTED - especially in the first 10 rows. The vocals were even being drowned out at times. It's unfortunate, otherwise it would have been a great experience and a much more enjoyable rock and roll evening. Proof? The girl in front had her ears plugged a few times. Spectators around me didn't look like they were much rock and roll fun. Not anything like the week before with Honeymoon Suite. People leaving this event didn't look happy or excited either. They looked stressed and dazed from having to endure excessive decibels with distortion. Some even had their fingers in their ear -probably to get rid of the ringing. The sound for the two previous bands, Harlequin and Jerry Doucette was much better - still loud but much cleaner. Thanks Sound Guy for putting your years of experience to work and making PRISM sound less than perfect.
