About "Horizons"
World-renowned physicist Professor Brian Cox brings his immersive live experience, "Horizons: A 21st Century Space Odyssey," to North America.
"Horizons" takes us on a dazzling cinematic journey. A story of how we came to be and what we can become.
The deepest of questions will be explored using the latest advances in our understanding of quantum theory, black holes, biology, planetary science, astronomy and cosmology. Using state-of-the-art LED screen technology, venues will be filled with images of far-away galaxies, alien worlds, supermassive black holes and a time before the Big Bang.
"Horizons" is a celebration of our civilization, of our music, art, philosophy and science; an optimistic vision of our future if we continue to explore Nature with humility and to value ourselves and our fellow human beings. Brian will once again be joined by co-host of The Infinite Monkey Cage and award-winning comedian Robin Ince, perhaps the only collection of sentient atoms in the observable Universe capable of overseeing a Q&A with an audience of 10,000 people while wearing an old cardigan.
About Professor Brian Cox
Professor Brian Cox CBE is Professor of Particle Physics at The University of Manchester, The Royal Society Professor for Public Engagement in Science and a Fellow of the Royal Society.
As a broadcaster, he has presented a number of highly acclaimed science programs for the BBC including Wonders of the Solar System, Forces of Nature, Stargazing Live and, in 2019, The Planets. He is credited with boosting the popularity of subjects such as astronomy and physics and has garnered a host of accolades for his TV work, including two Royal Television Society awards and a Peabody Award for Wonders of the Solar System.
Brian has also authored a series of best-selling books, including the widely acclaimed Human Universe. Brian broke his own Guinness World Record titles during his last live tour, Universal, for most tickets sold (158,589) for a science tour, and for most tickets sold for a science show (11,433 at The Arena in Birmingham in 2019).
Amazing! The presentation was great. He used language the average person could understand. I would definitely go see him again .
I thoroughly enjoyed the lecture and learned a lot. I would love to see this again
Just when I thought I couldn’t admire and appreciate this man anymore Professor Brian Cox increased his “loveability” score with me by being so down to earth and even swearing like the rockstar he is. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Interesting, funny and light-hearted but informative tour through the galaxies. Great additional content provided by Robin Ince.
He has been for years one of the greatest exponents of the understanding of science for the masses. Although he (and I) are particle physicists he does a wonderful job of explaining astrophysics and the relation to quantum mechanics. I wish I had his gift for inspiring humour in his talks, his lectures at uni have always drawn more students than mine, I envy him immensely. All in all his presentation was brilliant and I advise anyone, to go to his next show, bring the children too. They will be enthralled and will be encouraged to enter the world of physics in one of it's multifarious disciplines. Thank you Brian.
It was a great experience to learn from Dr Cox in person! I watch all his programs. He explains everything in a dimple way so that it is understood my everyone. This is a great teaching skill he has. I’m looking forward to another in person “lecture” of his!
An amazing blend of approachable yet cutting edge physics discussion.
We were blown away by the entire presentation. Professor Cox has a way of discussing abstract and complex things so that non-scientists/mathematicians can understand them. Amazing experience!
Brian is an excellent presenter with great stage presence. However, he could benefit by using more videos and simulations instead of just words to explain the concepts. My partner also thought the ending was a bit weak and partnering with someone in social science or philosophy might help.
We watch all Brian Cox shows on TV - he is the David Attenborough of the planets and space. We thoroughly enjoyed Brian live on stage BUT the sound could have been better. While no sound expert, my husband’s cousin was a sound engineer and my husband said “too much bass and not enough treble” because he had been with his cousin more than once while playing the stereo and his cousin was very well respected within the recording business. We were in the dress circle and there was a bass echo when Brian spoke and he speaks fairly quickly. That bass echo made it difficulty to catch everything he said, which given the type of event, was a huge loss. I don’t know what part of the equipment is responsible: microphone headset, speakers, or what the technicians do but it was most annoying and disappointing. Brian Cox would rate a 5 stars and the sound about 1 star. The sound all but killed our evening.
Just love the way Professor Cox looks at the links between the universe, space-time and the importance of humanity. His shows on BBC earth always enthral and his live show was even better. The images on screen and the beautiful and haunting background music was inspired. His comedic duo Mr Ince was a great part. Highly highly recommend seeing this if possible. I hope he returns!
A wondrous night of mind bending information, with comedic flavour thrown in: so as not to make you feel you’re at a university lecture. Prof. Brian Cox is one of the great science communicators and his partner Robin Ince adds to the experience!
Brian Cox was brilliant of course and his sense of humour was what carried the show. I wasn't quite ready for it to be so much like a university lecture. I was hoping it would be more like one of his television shows only with a little more glitz. I thought a little too much time was spent on, I guess the mechanics of it all. I was getting a little lost at times. After all, I would assume the audiences are mostly made up of people who are not as educated as physicists and mathematicians. Still Professor Cox is brilliant and witty and I was able to decipher enough. The time went by far too fast. I do not live in Vancouver so he gave me much to ponder that night and the next day going home. I would go again but be a little more prepared mentally.
Loved listening to professor Brian cox. The venue wasn’t great, it was hard to hear and too much stage smoke made it hard to see the screen. Would’ve loved more screens and better acoustics.
Had a great time. Brian knows how to keep the audience captivated. He is very knowledgeable.
I guess I don’t know what I really expected. It was cool to see the guy and hear the guy who is constantly on my TV. He didn’t say anything new really, there were no revelations other than the fact that I gained A whole new appreciation for the power of television and our attraction to those whom we invite into our living room.
Very interesting, Brian Cox is brilliant and funny. Whether you are a professor or an armchair astronomer, he makes the content interesting and understandable. I could watch him speak for days and never get bored. Visual aspect was impressive and helped to explain many of the things he was speaking about. I'd go again tomorrow if I could!
Panders to all ages & explanations are made simpler for us that are not Astrophysicists! I would definitely attend again!
Professor Brian Cox provided an entertaining, informative evening discussing current knowledge on space, time, black holes and more - complete with amazing images, classical music and a touch of humour. Once more Professor Cox's lecture/show provided a fantastic experience and a great evening. Hoping he presents another lecture.
Fascinating, mind-blowing, awesome. Great speaker. We all loced it
