Want to give more stars, but just can't
by Anonymous on 2016-09-24The Gateway (SAIT) - CalgaryAhhh...Prozzak. When I heard they were going on tour, my preteen (and current adult) self shrieked with joy. Granted, I only had their one album (Saturday People), but I listened to that album until I was blue in the face. I couldn't believe my favourite cartoon duo was going on tour again. The Gateway event on Facebook said it started at 8pm, and so did my ticket. So we lined up at 730pm. When the doors opened, my friend and I rushed to the front, barely able to contain our excitement. And we waited. And we waited. And we waited some more. There was a "DJ" playing 90s/early 2000s hits. Which was really, really awesome at first. But an hour passed. Then two hours. Prozzak finally came on at about 10:20. Unfortunately, we are not as young as we once were, and we were sore and tired, and the excitement had started to really wear off. But still. It was PROZZAK OMG. I'm not sure what I expected. But I don't think I expected "Simon" to sing over the track as much as he did. Being at the front, you could see him say a different word than what was coming through the speakers. Maybe it gets tiresome to sing in a fake British accent for long periods of time, but still. There was also a 1hr video queued up to play. Which means there is no time for breaks or crowd interaction. So I don't know. All in all, I was pretty bummed to wait 2+ hours to watch my favourite childhood band lipsync for most of it, and watch youtube videos on the big screen. But maybe I had just amped myself up too much. But I can't give less than 3 stars, only because my inner preteen won't let me. Seeing them live was a once in a lifetime experience, I just wish it had gone a little better.
