About

PUBLIC ENEMY IN CONCERT:

Hip hop pioneers and modern day rap legends Public Enemy are still bringing the noise, nearly three decades after establishing themselves as "Public Enemy No. 1" with their 1987 debut single. Flavor Flav and crew had game then and they got game now, keeping classic rap alive as they continue to 'scream vocal javelins' at the right enemies and innovate on the one's and two's. Following their 2013 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Public Enemy will "Fight the Power" on their 2014 tour dates, including a highly anticipated appearance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Where would the rap game be without the power and profundity of Long Island's Public Enemy? Formed in the early '80s by MC Chuck D and his irascible hype-man Flavor Flav, the group set out to add a political message to the aggressive style of hip hop made famous by Run DMC. Joined by MC Professor Griff and DJ Terminator X, Public Enemy ascended to astronomical heights with 1988 sophomore album It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back. The record, anchored by the single "Don't Believe the Hype" became the first hip hop album to gain mainstream recognition, landing at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The rest is history.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Hands down top 3 hip hop shows I have ever seen! AWESOME!"

"Excellent concert! High energy and Public Enemy KILLED IT!

"That was a great show to be able to watch, I love that hip hop is alive and well...Chuck D is an amazing MC, the way he hosted the show and showed the local talent so much love was one of the best feeling I got this year at a show."

    Kings of Hip Hop

by zzZzz on 2010-05-28Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

So many hiphop shows are pretty lackluster. This is why you need to go see Public Enemy. Incredible show, went hard for over 2 hours, did most of Nation and Fear, crowd was crazy, one of the best shows I've ever been to.

    Outstanding!

by Malika on 2010-05-28Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Show was over two hours and they had the whole place just bumpin'. High energy - Flav and Chuck D were both in prime form. Terrific interaction with the audience who were more than happy to pump their fists and wave their hands in the air. They funked up their beats a bit - not quite as militant as I've heard them play before. It was really good. Lots of band members on the stage at the end of the show for Fight the Power and then they went into some funk tunes and just jammed. Said they were having too much fun on the stage to leave (and it looked like it too). Had a 70's Parliament feel to it toward the end, which was awesome. The S1W were great too. I've seen PE before and this show did not disappoint. Had a smile on my face the whole night. Would love to go again tonight!

    Great Performers!

by JackC on 2010-05-28Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

The Commodore is always a great place to see a show. My girlfriend and I had a great time. The only thing that sucked and It was a lot of people saying so, was the "opening act" that was horrible and I felt a little embarrased for the guy. He was absolutely ridiculous! Once the show started though, which did take a bit of time but worth the anticipated wait, it was awesome and I can't wait for the next concert.

    Public Enemy still hittin hard!

by CarlJB on 2010-05-26Whiskey - Calgary

Wow! I didn't expect a 2hr+ Hip Hop show at a bar. They were great, TONS of energy and they played pretty much every song I can think of! Opening act was TERRIBLE! Really high on drugs and generally no musical talent ... just yelling into the mic. Probably from Calgary.

    Fight the Power

by Cushy on 2010-05-26Whiskey - Calgary

It was exactly what I would have expected: High energy and over the top! I dare say that I found Flavor Flav sexy. They seem to have found the fountain of youth. I loved every minute of it and the rest of the sold out audience seemed to feel the same.

    Amazing

by Bussche on 2010-05-25The Garrick Centre - Winnipeg

Although they went on very late, the show was everything I could have asked for and more. They played both of their classic albums from start to finish; "It takes a nation of millions to hold us back" and "Fear of a black planet." They were spot on and sounded great. The backing band was awesome. Chuck D and Flavor Flav's croud interaction was top notch. Overall one of the best show's of any genre I have ever been to.

    Worth the wait

by Jcore on 2010-05-25The Garrick Centre - Winnipeg

Show started on time, with 2 opening acts. There was then a 2-2.5 hour wait in the hottest/grossest environment ever, because Flava Flav had not yet arrived. Show was scheduled to be over by 11:30, but P.E. didn't go on until 11. Regardless, once they hit the stage for their 2+ hours set, it was well worth the wait.

    Awesome!!!

by BeeCee on 2010-05-24Edmonton Event Centre - Edmonton

Excellent show... the only disappointment was that they didn't sell the venue out. Shame on Edmonton for that!!! Flavor Flav and Chuck D are still at the top of their game. Loved the audience friendly attitude of the band, who allowed a lot of interaction.
