    total magic

by craigmorton on 2009-07-11Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

I have been a huge Queen fan since 1975. I have seen Queen twice live with Freddie Mercury. This is the second time I have seen this band. Let Me tell You a story. The first time I purchased tickets to this show, I originally thought I was seeing Queen with Paul Rodgers. It was only weeks before the show that I discovered I was seeing a Queen cover band. I was highly disapointed but since I bought the tickets I went anyway. Am I ever glad I did. From the moment they came on stage, I felt like I was transported back to the early 1980s when Queen was at the top of the world. This band is amazing. Now We all know that there isnt a person alive who can replace the late ,great Freddie Mercury. But if anyone can come a close second, it is this man. I was standing up with an ear to ear grin from start to finish. I couldnt help but to sing along with every song on the set list. I didnt care what anybody thought. For those couple of hours , in My mind I was seeing Queen once again. The Man looked like Freddie, Had mastered the moves of Freddie, and most importantly, sounded almost exactly like Freddie. And the rest of the band was no slouch either. The lead guitar player pulled sounds out of his instrument that Brian May would be proud of. If Youve never been lucky enough to see the real Queen, then go to this show. You will not be disapointed. I wouldnt have gone to see them a second time if I was.

    I'll avoid the obvious pun

by SpencerW on 2009-07-11Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

As the official Queen tribute band, "It's a Kinda Magic" more than lives up to the standards set by the parent band. The bassist, guitarist and drummer are all incredibly skilled, and while Freddy Mercury just has that voice that can't be copied, the singer for this performance had a wonderful voice, and he had the mannerisms on stage down to a science. As some one who grew up too late to appreciate Queen in their prime, this was the closest I can now get to a proper Queen concert. It's a good alternative.

    Not So Great

by Slurpy on 2009-07-11Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

I found the music to be good but the singer tried too hard to look and act like Freddie Mercury. His voice was good so it would have been fine for him just to sing like Freddie without the copycat act.

    Queen - It's a kinda crap

by Doormatt on 2009-07-11Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

The problem with a tribute is when you get too close, but still not there. Had I been deaf, I would have been sure I was seeing Queen in their heyday. Having seen Queen live (minus Freddy), I know the band was dead on. The lead singer however was not. As mentioned earlier, he was visually dead on, but the voice just wasn't quite there. With any other band, this would have not been too bad, but with a voice as distinctive as Freddy's, close just doesn't count.

    Queen was unforgettable

by christine on 2009-07-11Red Robinson Show Theatre - Coquitlam

The show was a WOW from the moment they came on stage and "Freddy" was just thrilling! He rocked and was just fantastic. The band was lifelike and kept pace with what one would have expected from the real deal. Well worth going!
