About

With their riff-heavy hard rock, California’s Queens of the Stone Age have become torchbearers for the brand of distorted, head-banging rock popularized by bands like The Smashing Pumpkins and Foo Fighters. 2013’s …Like Clockwork – their first album in six years – proved that time had not mellowed their hard-edged sound, earning praise from critics for its thrashing intensity and landing the band their first No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200. Tracks like “My God Is the Sun” and “I Sat by the Ocean” showcased their bridling ferocity and worked their way up the Alternative Songs chart, leaving little doubt that QOTSA are as on top of their game as ever. Founded in Palm Desert in the late ‘90s, the band would release several albums before teaming up with Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters on 2002’s hugely successful Songs for the Deaf, which earned the band their first Grammy nomination for hit single “No One Knows.” On tour in 2013, the band has been taking ticket buyers by storm with their muscular sound and their visually stunning live concerts.

    Good but not great

by zebow1984 on 2011-08-04Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The opening act was quite poor and boring. Think of the white strips but meg on guitar and jack on the drums...not so good. Now I've been a big fan of QOTSA and hearing all the songs from their self titled album live was amazing (specially mexicola). After rocking out for about an hour they took a 5min break in which time these lights were lowered that I had never seen before at a concert; cool at first but after some time became very cheesy. Rocked out for another hour playing some fan favorites like make it wit chu, no one knows and go with the flow. Was a good concert but wasn't as amazing as their first 2006 gig at the corral center.

    Queens was a great show

by Motherwhat on 2011-08-04Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

They didn't put on an amazing spectacle like Muse did, but they sounded excellent and catered to the crowd. They played their biggest hits and asked the crowd to choose a couple songs as well, well worth the money to go see them.

Lots of energy, great sound. Amazing show!

by Stob on 2011-08-04Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I thoroughly enjoyed the QOTSA show. The sound was great, lighting was elaborate, with the best being the hanging cylindrical lights which lit from top to bottom, giving the appearance of dripping wax. The band put a lot of energy into their performance and played a great variety of songs. I have no complaints about any aspect of the show. Top notch!

    QOTSA: Great. As usual.

by Spartacus2009 on 2011-08-04Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

There is little to say about the QOTSA concert experience that hasn't been said. It's like owning a Porsche ... it's not for everyone, and if you have to ask you are obviously out of the loop. They put on a rock show that demonstrates how great they are ... and how much other bands just phone it in. True Story.

QOTSA in a class by themselves

by TJSLY on 2011-08-04Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The entire show was absolutely amazing. They played flawlessly. Great interaction with the crowd. It felt that the band enjoyed playing for the crowd as much as the crowd enjoyed being there to watch the band - Josh said 'we are here for each other' and it felt that way. Very impressed and just blown away by the whole experience. There was a moment when I stopped grooving and banging my head that I looked at the band and said to myself ' wow this is what you guys do eh? just awed by, and got so much pleasure and appreciation to watch professional musicians do their thing. I felt the venue was also amazing. My first time in the Jubilee Auditorium. It was a perfect size of venue for a concert. Seats were fantastic. Overall I love this band and respect them more as professionals now then I had before seeing them live. Overall just a top notch experience. Best concert I have seen to date. I know this is being extremely greedy, but I wish they would have never stopped playing. More tracks from Songs from the Deaf and Lullabies would have been great. But this is a minor and very greedy demand. I would recommend this to any queens / palm desert music fan, and really, any rock fan in general. These guys 'bring it' every step of the way.

    QOTSA Killer Show!

by Jewel1681 on 2011-08-04Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Great, solid, fun performance by QOTSA once again, my third QOTSA show in Calgary. Aside from the warm $6 beers prior to the show, the Jubilee Auditorium is an A+ amazing venue; I'd love to see more rock shows booked there in the future.

    Fantastic show!!

by kelnbri on 2011-08-04Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

One of my favourite bands live! Considering it was their last show and they've been on tour as long as they have been, they sounded amazing! They played the debut album in entirety, it was great. They then played all the hits from the rest of their albums. Love this band!!

    QOTSA ROCKED THE HOUSE!

by murdocklover on 2011-08-04Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I knew going into the show that it was be truly unforgettable so my expectations were high...but Josh and the boys EXCEEDED my expectations! What an amazing show...showmanship...it was fabulous. It was inspiring to see the broad age range attending too. I was old enough to be a mother to some attendees, but I was young enough to be the daughter of some too! QUEENS RULE!

    Unstoppable

    by Taylor555 on 2011-05-29Sound Academy - Toronto

How can I explain this in words. If you didn't see it, you missed it. The way this concert went down was fantastic, and when sick sick sick started up I knew I'd just had my mind evaporated. Thank you for coming to Canada, and I can only hope one day they come to Copps again so that I can enjoy the concert in a less crowded city.

    QOTSA

by phlyerphan on 2011-05-25Sound Academy - Toronto

At the Sound Academy (crappy place to see a show) but took my son and got lucky enough to get to the stage. The sound from there was phenomenal. What a show went in a fan came out a die hard. Would see them again in a minute, one of the best shows I have ever seen and I have been to 100+ big shows. Flawless performance...keeping this ticket stub.

    QOTSA Rock

by Greeneyes34 on 2011-04-07Val Air Ballroom - West Des Moines

The concert was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Venue was good. It was nice to see QOTSA in a small venue. Crowd was friendly and fun, no problems there :) Getting in took some time. There was one line for the ladies and three for the guys. Could have been better organized.

Queens of the Stone Age never disappoint

    by Mary80 on 2011-04-01Sound Academy - Toronto

QOTSA at Sound Academy was an amazing show! More bands should play albums in their entirety. Queens are always great live but getting to hear their self-titled debut was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

    QOTSA...Amazing

    by JEF3 on 2011-04-01Sound Academy - Toronto

As always QOTSA was absolutely amazing. They played for two hours straight and did not disappoint. The first half of the show was their first album, and the second they came out and played all of their familiar hits. From start to finish, this was a great show.

It's not often you get to witness a show as special as this. The whole 1st album front to back then two encore sets of great hits. You can't lose!

    QOTSA Rocked Toronto

    by Concertaholic1 on 2011-03-31Sound Academy - Toronto

It was great watching Josh and the boys once again and having them go back to the first album then through the rest all the while having a great time blasting us all away. And I think Toronto enjoyed being called fellow "deviant bastards"

Good band, bad sound at the Met on this night

    by BRAiN00 on 2011-03-29Métropolis - Montreal

This is an awesome band but unfortunately the sound on Sunday was atrocious - at least from the balcony up top. The drums were overpowering and the guitars muffled. The voice of Josh Homme could barely be heard much less understood. Unfortunate and disappointing for such a great band.

    gotta see them again

by anikisthequeen on 2011-03-29Métropolis - Montreal

i thought i enjoyed their music on my ipod and then this opportunity came for me to catch them in concert. they are intense. everything josh touches turns to gold. it doesn't matter what project he's working on. they are true to the heart what rock music is all about and i dig it. they will make you want to get on your gogo boots and start kickin'. that is a guarantee my friends.
