  • Rockettes were Unbelievable

by symby on 2009-11-18Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The show was extremely enjoyable. the costumes (Reindeer outfits, bus tour of NYC where you felt like you were really driving about the city, and the Twelve Days of Christmas) and dancing great! I had seen the show two years ago and was somewhat disappointed as there were no animals in this Nativity Scene and wondered why? The Nativity Scene also seemed shorter than before.

  • Spectacular and Magical!

by Mege on 2009-11-18Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Radio City Christmas Spectacular brings the feeling of Christmas right into the heart, and adults and children alike were clapping and cheering. The Rockettes danced in perfect unision and their costumes were beautiful. Their Christmas in New York number was absolutely fantastic; you almost felt like you were on a tour bus in New York! Tying into the Christmas theme was the Nutcracker Suite (an all-time favourite) suitable for young children with life sized dancing teddy bears as the soldiers. Perhaps the most touching and lovely part of this extravaganza was the Christmas story, nativity scene and all. An experience for all to enjoy and really cherish the Christmas season.

As always - superlative.... All the girls in all the numbers are 'beauty made of steel'. I was panting for them half way through the routines. They are unbelievable. The staging - the settings - were magnificent, especially the tour of NYC but also loved the multitude of Santas number - not to be outdone by the old standard with the Toy Soldiers. When they started to fall, I noticed everyone in the audience was holding their breath. Sorry, but I liked the show better when presented in a smaller venue - like the Sony Center instead of the Air Canada Center. It's just too big and impersonal. However, wherever the Rocketts perform - I will go see them over and over.

  • Rockettes did NOT rock!

by DisappointedInToronto on 2009-11-18Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

Very disappointing! The show was staged in the Air Canada Centre which is a very large sporting arena and that may have contributed to the overall flatness of the event. The floor seats (which is where we were seated) were actually lower than the stage so you were looking up at the performers - not a good angle! The few numbers that the Rockettes actually performed were well done with great precision. However, in between each Rockette performance there was a musical number of some kind. There were far too many of these numbers, the music and singing were very forgettable and unexceptional - no recognizable melodies of any kind. I've seen the travelling Rockettes Christmas show before, here in Toronto, and all I can say is the Toronto audience for this version of the show got royally ripped off. The final scene which is the nativity scene was *not* the traditional one. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who may one day see the better version of the show - let's just say there were no animals! Definitely NOT worth the big bucks that it cost!

  • Sound was too low!

by Anonymous on 2009-11-18Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Have seen the Rockettes show in New York and unfortunately this one didn't quite measure up. The music seemed to be "recorded", not live and the sound wasn't "big" enough for the ACC. Costumes, choreography and dancing were top-notch but unfortunately the show was only "good", not spectacular. I think a smaller venue would have been better.

  • Radio City Christmas Spectacular was magical!!

by Dinica on 2009-11-18Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The evening transported my daughter and I to New York city at Christmas time. The Rockettes were mesmerizing with their brilliant synchronized dance performances. The customs, staging, special effects, singing and Santa himself as the emcee created an evening of timeless magic.

Although I was not happy with the apron stage format, the show itself was truly excellent. There was something for everyone. The nutcracker scene was delightful and brought out the child in everyone. The traditional toy soldier march was as perfect as ever and the nativity scene a fitting end. The apron stage did not give patrons the full effect of the moving bus when viewed from the side seats which the majority of people occupied.

  • A great start to the Christmas season!

by Anonymous on 2009-11-18Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

We loved this show. It was entertaining, fun and really put you in the Christmas spirit. I would totally recommend it to anyone. We went without kids and it was still excellent, but I'm sure the kids would love it too.

This show was amazing, you totally feel like you were in New York city the whole time. There are so many great scenes that it would be hard to pick a favorite. I will definetly be there next year to see it. This is a must for everyone to see

  • Christmas Spectacular says it all

by Tasket on 2009-11-18Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

A wonderful night perfect for all age groups. Showed many sides of Christmas from the child's eye view to the religious significance. Only improvement would be to hold it in a proper theatre rather than in a sports stadium which caused a loss of some atmosphere.

  • Christmas Magic In Your Heart

by fowler on 2009-11-18Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Children aged six to ninety will be thrilled with the spectacular staging , singing , and of course, with the amazing dancing of the Rockettes. The show was fast paced , the settings were dazzling, and the message was warm & clear. Live life with enthusiasm and belief.! The presentation is well balanced, with the Biblical Christmas story plus the traditional Santa fantasy ,displayed with a very fresh style and verve. Any " Scrooge " will come out of the experience feeling happy and positive , and if you are lucky enough to have your children or grandchildren with you , you will truly have shared the experience of a lifetime with them.

As usual the Rockettes were simply amazing however, the show was highly scaled down from two years ago when at the Hummingbird Centre. The sets weren't as elaborate, the Nativity scene did not have the live animals it once had. Missed seeing the fantastic props and glitter of the stage sets.

There is a reason why it's called the Christmas 'Spectacular'! What a show! Young or old, it is a must see if you love Christmas for all it is! The Rockettes shine and they performed with perfection...I couldn't believe my own eyes. And the real St. Nick makes the show just that much better!

  • Radio City Christmas Spectacular was Fabulous

by Dawnseeta on 2009-11-18Air Canada Centre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Radio City Christmas Spectacular was amazing and fabulous. A must see for the family. My daughter and I were in awe with the special effects. The dancers truly lived up to our expectations. We have tried to see the Rockettes for many many years, and the few times we visited NY, tickets were not available or the show was not on. Now we are truly happy and in the Christmas spirit/mood. Thank you for a wonderful show.
