I love this man. I am also a huge Beatle fan but without question Ray holds the title of the greatest songwriter, singer, performer of all time simply based on the the sheer number of great songs he has written (and is still writing) So down to earth and genuinely likeable chap and funny to. Not a trace of arrogrance or attitude. Had the audience wrapped around his finger. I am completely in awe of this man. Worn all the grooves on my record collection over the years. he even sounds better live. I hope he comes back next year. His band was amazing. Esp, Bill Shanley. Keep your eyes and ears on this dude. he is going places.
In the 60's, Ray Davies was the social conscience of his generation. Dedicated Follower of Fashion and Dead End Street are two examples of life in that era. On Friday, Ray took us back to that magical time. His acustic set was great and when his band joined him later, the place began to rock. His personna is just as it was in the old days and his enthusiasm showed with every song. He is a true showman and gets better with passing time. Thank you for transporting us back to a time when the Kinks were revered in the UK. A true, genuine genius. What memories - come back soon, please.
Ray Davis is truly a roc n roll treasure. He was certainly a major contributor to music and a great song writer, with wonderful lyrics. His set was full of energy especially for an entertainer in his mid 60's. The full house loved the acoustical set but came to its feet when he turned up the volume with classic hits like "you really got me" What a great evening...even though he did not play three of his hits including ......Lola. Still a fun filled evening. Can't wait for him to return again..maybe he will play the three song he left out of the program.
I don't really like the Kinks but I went with my husband to keep him company. He is a big fan. I was quite surprised - the show was really good!
Ray Davies was super, took me back to my youth, professional show with great interaction with audience. Triple A.
Overall good but he did not play Lola! Very disappointed for that.
