great atmosphere and intermission entertainment for the evening
Lots of exciting plays and moments. Both teams played well.
Great game, tight score! Rebels always come out and give it there all. Catching my first puck in over25 years of watching hockey was the definite highlight.
Good value and Great Hockey! Overall a well run event.
Once again, it was another loss on home ice for the Red Deer Rebels. Both teams played a great game. The Rebels acquired defenseman Gaudet from the hot Kamloops Blazers and was ready to play against a very familiar Kelowna team. However, this did not help the Rebels, as the Rockets were able to fina couple holes in their defense to score goals and beat the Rebels 3-1. One resulted from a breakaway, another from a bad line change. The Rebels need to work on keeping the pick in the zone and learn from how other teams are beating them. The Rebels' PIM is near the highest in the league. This needs to change. Defense, discipline, and endurance to play a full 60 mins are what the Rebels need to win their next series of games in the US. There is no doubt in my mind that they will play this way as they are more disciplined when they play away. On that note, it was a Friday home game, and there was no shortage of fans. Fan support though? Let me tell you, if I can even hear the refs hollering, the coaches calling out, and players yapping then its not loud enough. When our team trails by 1 or 2, everyone is dead silent. Why do people spend $20 on a ticket? Fair weather fans who are only there for the win, a silent audience isn't going to help a team in need. This isn't golf or a chess game, its hockey! its the WHL, so teams are always growing and changing, its a tough league for one team to stay strong!
A lucky bounce decided it but Red Deer certainly put in a great effort and deserved to win! Good to see the team pulling together early in the season with a new captain. Last year we lost too many one-goal games so it's time to win a few!
I would rate the entertainment value 5 stars! What a game! The Rebels got onto a scoring rampage early on in the 1st period, netting 3 in less than 3 minutes. It seemed like the Rebels were doing a good job of taming the Tigers. However, the Tigers would only come back super-charged, penetrate the Rebels' frail defense, and take full advantage of their special teams to pounce back with a 5-4 victory. Couple calls from Kambeitz, gave the Tigers enough powerplays to win the game. Would've been more exciting if the Rebels played more consistently, and more disciplined, to keep the Tigers coming back for more. Hockey game or circus? Tell ya what, if it was a circus, lets just say the tigers were let out of their cage midway through, taking out their prey, who spent enough time teasing them in the first 20 mins! Circus gone a riot? I'd say so!
Great seats, fans around us good sportsmanship, easy to move around, 105.1 - The Drive was Great, Excellent father / son entertainment.
Lots of shots on goal, close match till in the 3rd period. Then the rebels scored 2 goals, for a 3-1. Then in the last min they got a empty net goal
The Rebels lost the game 4- 0 but we still had a great evening. We had front row seats by the penalty bench. My young friend was given a puck after the second. The game finished with fireworks.
Fun even though Rebels lost. 80s night so we got free glow sticks and noise makers.
Considering the importance of the game the Rebels seemed to have about the same level of intensity as the all star game.
Good seats great building and good game. The rebels won in OT, good time had by all!
Great night out...good seats, plus the hotdogs, drink and chips were a hit! Affordable, good family fun!
Awesome game, total domination by the Rebels! It was our forth game, we'll definitely be going again.
Great game, great seats, and a great outcome for the game
If you asked me, this was one of the most horrendously officiated games this early in the season. It all began when Matt Dumba got called for a very disputable elbowing minor. His shoulder clearly made the contact prior to his elbow just barely getting in the way. Not much longer before another lame call that put the Rebels down two men eventually letting the 2011 WHL defending champions draw first blood. Rebels would go to tie things up, but the biased refereeing would continue in the 3rd period. Two very bad calls including that check at mid ice. Like come on refs, they're allowed to hit in this game you know. This isn't the minors, or No-hit league! There was NOTHING wrong with that center ice check. This illegitimate penalty cost the Rebels their 2nd power play goal. They were unable to make a comeback in time. This was a poorly refereed game; Spurgeon and Watt better clean up their act. Bad representation of the WHL and Chl. This would've been a 1-0 win for Red Deer. Unfortunately, bad reffing led to their loss. This is why Bartosak got 2nd star. It wasn't his fault that he lost. Very unfair hockey game, the refs were clearly biased towards Kootenay winning.
I often take my teenage daughter and her friends to the home games for the Rebels. When my husband is home, he comes along, and we all enjoy ourselves immensely. We generally find that no matter where we are seated, we are happy. The Rebels have been exciting to watch this year, especially going as far as they did in the playoffs! We will definately be back often next year...maybe even as season ticket holders!
The Rebels played hard and with lots of heart but just could not beat those Tigers. We sure enjoyed the hockey season. We are still huge fans and will be back in the fall
