    Prism Rocked It

by CLJH on 2014-08-26Delta Bessborough Gardens - Saskatoon

The music was great - brought back a lot of memories. I felt 18 again. Too bad it was a cool evening. What's with having to be covered with a blanket and mitts to stay warm in August. The doughnut truck was fabulous. Our group of four shared both Death by Doughnuts and Maple Bacon Doughnuts - yum!!! Lineups were not too bad at the liquor tent. Got a great t-shirt "Are you ready Steve". Even though I enjoyed the Dr. Hook songs, the singing on many of them were off key. Maybe time to retire as he is 77.

    Rock the River

by rblhrt on 2014-08-26Delta Bessborough Gardens - Saskatoon

The weekend was a success ... so glad the rain stayed away as long as it did and it definately did not dampen the spirits of the Sunday concert goes when it did arrive! Can't wait to go again next year! Just sad that Prism was unable to do a full set of songs once they finally did arrive ... just the hicupps of artists flying in on the same day they play ... note to self: Take the Monday off of work! LOL

    Best rockin' weekend ever!

by Bare4 on 2014-08-26Delta Bessborough Gardens - Saskatoon

I normally go online to see when these bands are touring next. When I got the email they were all coming for the weekend I was totaly floored!! Am I dreaming, I thought. Wow, what a spectacular weekend. The bands did awesome! Great venue! Great job organizing this event! Food was good. Atmosphere was wonderful. Plus - Prism played last Saturday night. Minus - they could only played 6 songs. Thank-you organizers for filling in empty spot with Platinum Blonde. They finished with a bang. I will be there next year, and will once again tell all my friends. Cheers.

    PRISM is my favorite!!!

by zippy54 on 2014-08-26Delta Bessborough Gardens - Saskatoon

We were only able to attend the Saturday show...loved it. I would have loved to hear more PRISM! Unfortunate their play time was shorter, but I would've been really sad if they didn't show up at all! Thanks for the wonderful show!!!

Sweet was Awesome! Dr Hook was Awful!

I would go see Sweet anytime! Great musicians & vocals! Ray Sawyer & Dr Hook should pack it in & stop embarrassing themselves!

    Tim in the Time Machine

by ClassicRockBornInBoldt on 2014-08-25Delta Bessborough Gardens - Saskatoon

What a blast! Frickin`Awesome! Lee Aaron can still belt out the vocals and still looks pretty hot. Sweet was tight, great vocals and awesome guitar. Dr. Hook had the crowd rockin`and singin`- a few times Ray Sawyer`s vocals weren`t quite where they were in his younger days, but it was hard to tell when that happened because the crowd was singing along so loud! Finally, after a day of mechanical problems on their plane and arriving when the concert was supposed to end, Prism put on a show and that took me back to high school! I`ll be first in line next year!

    Rock The River

by MrElectric on 2014-08-25Delta Bessborough Gardens - Saskatoon

It was great for Saskatoon to have an event outdoors downtown that was built on Rock. The Bessborough Gardens is such a classic venue. It's unfortunate Sunday was so cold, who would have thought that could happen... but I was a no show. Sound was great and I think the bands really enjoyed our fans and their stage and scenery. This event could sell out in the future many times. What I would like to see you ask? Kim Mitchell was here a week ago I would like to see Max Webster next year. I would also like to see more of the same flavour with a little stronger headline acts each day. Dr. Hook was good to see but the vocal quality is slipping :) A couple years ago Peter Frampton played the Bes, he would be a great fit. Keep it rock and blues based rock and you will have fans far into the future... just like our Jazz Fest has had a solid following for many years. Thanks to the organizers and SIGA for their wise decission to bring us Rock The River.

    The 80's Rock!

by Teacherblue on 2014-08-25Delta Bessborough Gardens - Saskatoon

A great venue, fantastic mostly Canadian Classic Rock and lots of 40 something's reminiscing the 80's. This has to become an annual event!

Besides the freezing weather on Sunday which no one could control, it was a fantastic event. Bands were great. Sound was good. Accommodation was made for a late flight arrival. Meet the band tent was fun. could have ended a bit earlier on Sunday as people from out of town had to drive home.

    bring back Rock the River!

by theBrick on 2014-08-25Delta Bessborough Gardens - Saskatoon

Unfortunately, the weather wasn't the greatest for an outdoor event, but overall, Rock the River was awesome! PROS - great outdoor natural venue - small, not overcrowded - no 20s/early 30s 'children' - finally something in the city that someone between 35-65 can attend and actually have a good time and not feel old or have to deal with immaturity - awesome bands/music - had the feel of going to an outdoor music festival like Craven, etc. but with all the conveniences of a city - appeared to be well organized CONS - the drinks and food were overpriced - considering the demographic, seriously, who is going to be eating a salad, butter chicken or sushi rolls at a 80s rock festival? strange food selections - need more/different drink selections

Great entertainment! Lots, lots, lots of fun!

by Ernie306 on 2014-08-25Delta Bessborough Gardens - Saskatoon

This was a great venue! The entertainment was amazing. We had such a fun weekend. Hopefully we can do this again next year. It's nice to hear some amazing ROCK!!!!!! It rained on the last day. We bundled up and wore our rain jackets. It still turned out to be a great night. Platinum Blonde was the last act to perform. We have seen them before and loved them then we were disappointed in their performance on this night. They had limited time to perform and they should have focused on their classics instead of what they tried to play.

Rock on The River A Great Venue

by ACDC1 on 2014-08-25Delta Bessborough Gardens - Saskatoon

The idea was exceptional - just too bad the weather did not cooperate . The bands were awesome and the price of beer was a little steep.

    Sweet was fantastic

by Buferd on 2014-08-25Delta Bessborough Gardens - Saskatoon

Music was good. Maybe a little more old stuff would have been better. Beer tickets way too much$. No hard liquor. Disappointed in that

What a weekend. A great collection of classic rock bands. Even the windy rainy weather couldn't dampen the spirits of the performers the crowd. Well done, looking forward to next year.

    Sweet and Harlequin were great!

by plsh on 2014-08-25Delta Bessborough Gardens - Saskatoon

Sweet was exceptional, Harlequin was great! Dr. Hook, I loved singing along to in the mosh pit, but Ray Sawyer butchered all his songs. We were glad the Saturday artists accommodated the canceled flight and rearranged schedule, but left before 10 and did not wait for the "final" act. Baileys in coffee would be a great option for cold weather crowds. Not much choice of snack foods, and kettle corn ran out. Short lines at beer and portapotties most of the time. Food line length varied. Sunday's lousy weather meant we chickened out and stayed indoors to watch the Rider game. Will go again if good lineup of bands/artists.

Could have been 5 stars without umbrella rudeness and (sorry) Dr. Hook, who simply no longer can perform. I think the umbrellas could have been limited to the back, you could have sold rain ponchos instead of $4 coffee and everyone who braved the rain would have been a whole lot happier. But then, you already had the tickets sold right, so I guess none of that mattered.

    less is more

by Fans52 on 2014-08-25Delta Bessborough Gardens - Saskatoon

Was enjoyable but the bands should play the top songs and not a guitar instrumental. Also, why would they cut the time so close on Prism? Could they not have been in early? Would it not be better to frustrate the 5 or 4 band members vrs all of the people at the Festival? We are the customer here....
