    Roy Orbison Hologram

by Gung on 2018-10-13Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The image was impressive. I never saw Roy in person but I have to think that he was likely a bit more dynamic than was the hologram image. I think there has to be a great future for Hologram productions to bring Broadway, the Met & Las Vegas productions to the unwashed masses. My repeated complaint - too LOUD.

    Roy!!!

by Dollywood1 on 2018-10-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Good warm up act. Didn’t like the break in between the warm up and actual show opening. Lights came on and sat there. Was it an intermission? How long was the break? Could I get up and go to the washroom? Was there a problem? No announcement of any kind to indicate what was happening. Crowd got a little irritated and started clapping for about 5 minutes with no response from organizers.

    Unbelievable

by Gribbles on 2018-10-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I have been fortunate enough to see Roy Orbison, three times, for real. When this hologram came to the stage, I thought I was seeing the real Roy, again. It was almost unbelievable, I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end!! How this is done, I will probably never know, it was just like the real Roy was there singing his heart out. The voice, was all Roy, not an imitation, and backed up by a live full orchestra on stage, along with back-up singers, this is a show that should NOT be missed. If you only go to one show this year, make sure it is this one. Totally amazing. My only complaint, is that it was not long enough, I could have listened to all his songs all night long. Will definitely go again if it ever comes back this way.

    Roy Orbison concert was fantastic

by Kathland on 2018-10-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Didn’t know what to expect from the hologram tour show, however I have always loved his voice and was totally delighted with the production. Was at first a bit disappointed there was no orchestra there, but still thought it would be good to see him again...on film or whatever they had planned. We were blown away by the quality of the entire production when the curtains opened on the stage and the orchestra started to play, then when Roy appeared from the center of the stage, was amazing.

    Expected something better

by Weaverone on 2018-10-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

It was ok, but I thought it could have been better. Same hologram standing same way and from where we were sitting which was not where I booked the tickets we could see right through the hologram.

Concept great, but only 1 hour??

by TheMC on 2018-10-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Opening act was pretty good. Long intermission before the main act. Then they only played for 1 hour and suddenly lowered the curtain and turned on all the lights. Not the length that I expected for the money. The hologram was very good. I enjoyed the (short) show.

An Awesome Tribute to the Big "O"

by Jasonweb on 2018-10-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

I was skeptical that this technology was ready for such a huge event. I thought it would be very hokey and cheesy to see an Artist depicted by a laser hologram. I took my wife and my 15 year old son to see my idol so I was nervous that the concert would be a botch of the Greatest Singer this world has ever heard. I was wrong boy was I wrong. I was in the second row from the front center and I was totally blown away and absolutely amazed by this show. It was so real even the fringes on Roy's jacket were moving. Roy even turned to view the Band and give an approval nod to what he was hearing. The Sound was totally in sync and the full Orchestra was on point. The entire production was first rate and could not have been a better experience. I was so happy to see Roy represented in this way and I think Roy's family has done the right thing allowing this technology to extend their father legacy for the future to enjoy. Roy would be proud!

    Different

by Teddy101 on 2018-10-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Went to this because Roy Orbison is my favorite singer of all time, plus I was curious about this hologram thing. The technology was pretty good. Unfortunately, the best view would be straight on. I was left centre, not too far from the stage. You could see the horns in the background and unfortunately the way the orchestra was positioned, the 2 big horns in the back near centre, gleamed in the light, which made the hologram more transparent and the horns were very visible through the hologram. Plus with all the changes in the lighting, every time they used a whiter light, the hologram became even more transparent. The darker blue and green lights were the best. Made the hologram look more solid. I think they need to tweek their presentation a bit. Get rid of the whiter/lighter lights and even if there was a small black curtain in front of the horns to shield their glare, the performance would have been that much better and enjoyable.

    Roy Orbison Hologram Concert Review

by DonnyK on 2018-10-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Everybody in the audience prior to the show was unsure what to expect...I mean, who are you going to clap for, and who are you really going to ask for an encore? However, when the lights dimmed, and Roy's image rose up from the stage, that's when you forgot about those questions and started to watch in earnest, as the production was well done. Biggest issue that prevented the show from being a truly outstanding 5-star IMHO was that the lights on the orchestra were always too bright and you could always see the orchestra players right through Roy's image, and often in tones of bright purple or blue. Unfortunately, that is what made it very difficult to imagine and immerse oneself to really be at a Roy Orbison concert in 2018! Production people please take note: turn down the lighting on the orchestra, especially for the benefit of the balcony dwellers. Julian Frampton was excellent, a young man who makes big, big sound from just an acoustic guitar. In addition to being so extremely talented, Julian never once used his dad's fame to bolster his. Nice to see someone truly making it on one's own!

Mind blowing and a tad freaky!

by Tuktuk on 2018-10-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

This was truly epic and I’m so glad someone thought of the idea! Went with my whole family as my parents got us into his music when we were kids and at 48 never thought we would get this experience opportunity! Wish it was longer and I hope they can come up with an encore plan!

    IN DREAMS WAS FABULOUS

Only thing I would recommend was after the opening act they should have announced that there was going to be a break

    Simply amazing

by JohnMac on 2018-10-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

First time we have seen a show featuring a hologram and was truly amazed by it. It seemed that the artist was actually on stage, and this combined with a first rate back up by the orchestra made the evening thoroughly enjoyable.

You won’t believe what you see

by Superadj on 2018-10-12Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

An extraordinary, one-of-a-kind, exciting and even thrilling experience. “Roy” shouldn’t be missed - bet you’ve never seen anything like it. Music was great of course, but the quality of the local orchestra was truly amazing. The inevitable opening act (Frampton), not so much. Jube Edmonton seats are due for replacement, though.
