ROYAL BLOOD IN CONCERT:
In just a few short years, British garage outfit Royal Blood has gone from a little-known upstart to a sought-after touring partner for acts like Pixies and The Arctic Monkeys. The key to their success? One of the most entertaining, high-octane live shows in rock music. Royal Blood is a duo, but the massive wall of sound they create in concert is the stuff of arena glory, all blaring guitars and crashing cymbals. Add to that the bluesy wail of lead vocalist Mike Kerr and catchy tracks like "Little Monster" and you've got yourself one heck of a live show. Already big stars in the UK, Royal Blood continue to grow their stateside fanbase with rollicking performances on tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Royal Blood was formed in 2012 in Brighton, UK, by singer Mike Kerr and drummer Matt Swan. Swan was replaced by the band's current drummer Ben Thatcher, and in 2013 the new duo made their debut with the heavy-hitting single "Out of the Black". The song launched the band to prominence virtually overnight, topping the UK Rock Chart and earning them a nomination for the BBC Sound of 2014 award. Royal Blood topped the charts again in 2014 with their second single "Little Monster", which they supported with several high-profile shows with the Arctic Monkeys. An up-and-coming act with unparalleled energy in concert, Royal Blood continue to rock fans on their must-see tours.
Royal blood never ceases to amaze me, I’ve seen them open up for QOTSA few years ago. This time they headlined their own show & brought on Cleopatrick. Another amazing two piece band with a big sound. Royal blood played every song I wanted to hear & them some. Interacted with the crowd, sounded amazing live & even did an encore. Hope they come back next tour & continue to kick ass!
Fantastic show! So much talent on stage, this is my second time seeing them. So worth it, if you have not seen them... GO!

Just phenomenal. I’ve seen many great performances in that venue and they were up there with the best! Second time I’ve seen them and I won’t miss any of their shows if/when they come back!
The venue, History, was fantastic. You had great vantage points of the stage pretty much anywhere you stood. The size of the Venue (2500 people I think) made the experience that much more enjoyable. As for ROYAL BLOOD, they put on a incredible performance. They sounded as if they were playing right from their studio. Vocals, bass, keys, Drums were all on point. Brilliant musicians, brilliant show. Even if you weren't familiar with Royal Blood, you would have enjoyed their performance, immensely.
I saw them open for Queens of the Stone Age a few years ago, and was pumped to see them at their own show. Mike and Ben were awesome, and are great showmen. I also loved the lights setup. Overall great show. Cleopatrick set the tone for the night perfectly also. There was a leaky pipe at History. It’ll be nice if that could be fixed asap.
Awesome concert and venue. The boys were spot on and sounded amazing. Best concert I have been to so far this year. Will definitely see these guys again.
A bit disappointing that History, on the heels of so many venues that came before it, seems to have learned nothing from their mistakes. The cavernous hard space suffers sound distortion from the bounce off all that concrete and steel, along with sight line issues from the lack of adequate slope/grade on the floor. It’s under-served by the too neatly tucked away bars, although at $15/beer for its proletarian and unimaginative offerings, maybe demand isn’t that high. This is a venue that had the chance to do everything right, but didn’t. It should have been something special, but it’s just another sweaty warehouse greedily taking advantage of music fans. So despite a great show by the band, who never disappoints, the evening was still a let-down. Toronto has suffered too many mediocre concert venues over the years, and History repeats.

I’ve been wanting to see these guys since they played with Foo Fighters as an opening act. They put on an amazing show, had an amazing opening act as well. The venue was terrific as well. Was absolutely amazing
Very nice venue. Beer was way to expensive. Royal Blood was amazing! Really enyoyed the show. The sound was excellent. Also enjoyed Cleopatrick. I thought it was really nice they had a Canadian band start the show.
Great show. Both acts were in mid season form. Venue had great sound And nice size. Downstairs bathroom sux. Would go see both acts again any time
This was my first time at History and it is an excellent venue. Cleopatrick was very good but Royal Blood was unbelievable. The last time I saw them was at WayHome and it was a great show. They have improved since then as this show was off the charts. They are my favourite band so it’s easy to write positive things but this was truly one of the best concerts I have ever attended. I can’t wait to see them again.
Royal Blood put on one hell of a show, would definitely see them live again!

Great Cleopatrick mosh, almost lost a shoe. Royal Blood know how to put on a show, never seen so much excitement for a gong. Amazing show 10/10
Such an amazing band! With tons of sound for only 2 guys! Mike Kerr has a wicked voice & I so hope they tour Canada again!
