money not well-spent
by Fifer on 2016-06-15Edmonton Northlands Grounds - EdmontonI purchased 4 tickets at the 2 for 1 price....I paid $96 for the 4. This seemed reasonable for my 3 kids' introduction to a circus....at first. The tent was jam - packed with people..we were uncomfortably close together and it was stiflingly hot. Kids love being too hot and too close, don't they? Then to add to the hard metal seating, there were the gaps at your feet where numerous people lost items...water, in our case! We had a rainstorm, at the start of the show, which Would have been fine, if not for the holes in the tent. We saw one row get Poured on...the usher in our row took our (offered) cardboard popcorn bucket to help....she was the only person who tried to help! The performances were proficient enough, with my kids enjoying the Quick-change, Pole-Climb, Hula-Hoop, and Ring of Death acts the most. It was difficult to hear the clowns, which would have helped the audience to enjoy their show more. At the end, I was disgusted to hear the handler? for the 'Transformers'-costumed photo-op, brusquely telling a woman that she couldn't pose & take a cell-phone pic of her kid with the robot...unless she paid $10!! Kids couldn't even STAND beside the costumed guy unless they paid. My daughter wanted to just go up to the "robot" but after $96 tickets and $20 of snacks purchased there, I was DONE.
