    Incredibly Phenomenal

by KingYashu on 2018-05-22Adelaide Hall - Toronto

I had the meet and greet tickets so I had a chance for early entry and got a laminate as promised. I went to the venue at the specific time listed and relaxed until people came through. Saba's Tour DJ and his boy came through and blessed the crowd with some incredible mixes and played a variety of tracks that don't include any top 40 rap songs (which was pleasing). Once they finished, they brought out Jean Deaux (Saba's cousin), who caressed the crowd with her soothing vocals and amazing pitch from songs on her upcoming project to older projects she worked. She can also spit a few good bars too and had the crowd dancing. Once she finished, Saba's brother Joseph Chilliams came through and entertained the crowd amazingly with new tracks for his upcoming project (based on the Mean Girls movie) and stuff from his recent project, Henry Church. He reminded me similarly to Michael Christmas and Lil Dicky based on his rapping skills, but more of a skinnier version of J. Cole (with his dreads). Finally, Saba came out with his DJ and his production crew (who worked on BLP and Care For Me album) and he amazed me with his wonderful stage setup (which is based on his grandmother's kitchen that was depicted on the album cover for Care For Me) and he used his production crew as a means to connect with the album from start to end (based on the auto-tune setup and backtrack for his vocals). He managed it in a more effective way, as well as he performed some cult classics for the fans and brought his brother and cousin on stage to perform various collabs they did on Bucket List Project. Overall, this show was amazing and I highly recommend listening to him and seeing him live.
