    SAGA rocked Mod Club!!

by TBrowne on 2009-07-13Mod Club Theatre - Toronto

The day after they returned home from an extensive and exhausting European tour, Saga took to the stage at Toronto's Mod Club Theatre to thrill a crowd of anxious fans. With Michael Sadler (former lead singer) having retired several years ago, the band put on a search for a suitable replacement. The replacement wound up being a very energetic and enthusiastic Torontonian by the name of Rob Moratti. Wow - what a replacement he turned out to be. It's not that he looked or sounded like Michael and I think it might be fair to say that it was not the intention of the band to try to match someone to Michael. Rob sings all the old songs amazingly well and it doesn't hurt that he is very good looking as well. The crowd were treated to most of the oldies, such as, The Flyer, Humble Stance, Don't be late and Jim Gilmour's Scratching the Surface was insane!!! Saga performed a couple of their new songs off of "The Human Condition" , but didn't push too many of the new songs because I think they knew that a lot of fans came out to hear the "old stuff". I have seen several shows at the Mod Club and I think that the club is o.k. Be advised though that there are next to no tables and chairs, so expect to stand for the evening. Also, there is no food served at this club, so, make sure to have dinner before arriving.
