Sam Smith has been captivating audiences with their unique high tenor since first appearing as the vocalist on Disclosure’s 2012 single “Latch.” In 2014, the London-born singer instantly became one of the UK’s greatest pop exports after releasing their first album, In the Lonely Hour, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 album chart and went on to achieve platinum certification five times over in the U.S. The album also earned Smith four Grammys, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year (for the Darkchild remix of “Stay with Me”), as well as Best New Artist. Smith then co-wrote and performed the opening theme “Writing’s on the Wall” for the 2015 James Bond film Spectre, which earned them an Academy Award. In 2023, Smith released their fourth full-length, Gloria, featuring the Grammy-winning Kim Petras duet, “Unholy,” which became the singer’s first No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 — and the first song by an openly non-binary artist and transgender artist, respectively, to reach the chart’s top spot.

I love the Sam Smith album. Every song is good. Happily, he did not disappoint live. I'll admit I was bummed when I heard he was playing at the ACC because I typically don't think good singers are best showcased in arenas. Somehow, he defied those odds because he actually sounded better live. Not only did he sound great, but the show had great energy. You could see pure joy on his face throughout the whole show. He thanked the audience multiple times and just seemed so grateful. He also explained the back stories of most of the songs, which I always enjoy. He did a cover and also added a fun twist to one of his more popular songs. It was the best concert I've been to in a while - I can't wait to see him again!
Sam Smith was amazing, he interacted with the crowd in between songs and got really intimate explaining the back story of each song and how it was personal to him. He was such a sweetheart, and his voice was incredible, much better live than on his album. He sang all the songs and encouraged the audience to sing along with him! I liked how he connected with his audience because it proved that he really wanted to be there. I wish that the show was longer, but I guess that's reasonable considering he has only one album.
I went to his first concert in Vancouver, and also his first concert in Canada, at the Orpheum Theatre. It was the most memorable concert I have and probably will ever go to. I remember every little thing he said in between his song like Vancouver having the best Sushi, and him telling us about him falling off his stool when he was singing for his schools talent show. He really connected with the audience and I don't think there was one person who wasn't on their feet. He sounded exactly like his record and I couldn't have asked for a better performance by him even though he was just getting over a sickness. I am definitely going again at Rogers Arena to basically see the exact same concert again because he was that amazing!! Most definitely my favourite artist.
Sam Smith's concert was one the most memorizing concerts I've ever been to. It was so cute how he was talking and said he couldn't believe how fuckin big the place was. And the Orpheum Theatre was so phenomenal. Such beautiful architecture. I am so excited that he's coming back to Vancouver. I can't wait to see him again! Although I feel as if it's not going to be as intimate as it was, since Rogers is huge. Definitely would love to actually meet him someday though.
Sounds just like he does on his album--don't know how he does it!
Sam Smith is an amazing singer, and the live renditions of every song are WAY better than the soundtrack versions. HIGHLY recommended!
Sam he was just so amazing. The How Will I Know made me tear out. Totally best night of my life. Speechless.
if you are to ever go to any concert, make it a sam smith concert!! he is absolutely AMAZING! and that voice of his.... ahh just heavenly!
It was an absolute thrill to enjoy this incredibly talented young artist in such an intimate venue. I cannot wait to be able to enjoy his talent live again. An amazing evening!
He is amazing live. So worth it! Sang almost his whole album.
While on a mini trip to NYC I decided to go see the sold-out Sam Smith - paid 5x the amount of a regular ticket on StubHub (I guess that's the cost of buying last minute). Sam Smith's show at the Apollo in Harlem was absolutely amazing (may have been because I was sitting second row). I don't think the crowd was impressed when the crew/band came strolling in and setting up when the show was supposed to start. They started doing sound checks, etc. That part was horrible... But when Sam Smith hit the stage, everyone forgot about the tardiness and enjoyed the show to the fullest. Sam Smith is so humble on stage and so sincere. He hasn't evolved into a full "performer" yet, but that'll come with time. When he sings in person, it sounds exactly like its come off his CD. The only other negative to his show was that it was a mere 45/50 minutes in total. I think we watched the stage setters set the stage for longer than that lol. Will I be seeing him again? Of course. I just bought front row tickets to his show in Vancouver, BC.
