About
SEAN ROWE IN CONCERT:
Alternative folk singer-songwriter Sean Rowe is a master of warm, acoustic guitar-driven tunes that evoke simple living and expansive American landscapes. Rowe is an avid naturalist, and his throaty baritone voice is the perfect vessel for his world-wise songs about living in the wilderness and finding a deeper connection with the environment. On his 2014 album Madman, Rowe explored a diverse range of genres including rock, gospel, and Motown, and his dynamic performances on tour blend the new styles perfectly. Whether he's treating ticket buyers to his haunting cover of Bruce Springsteen's "The River" or performing upbeat originals like "Downwind", Rowe is a mesmerizing performer who never fails to impress with his skilled fingerpicking, soulful harmonica playing, and thunderous voice.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Sean Rowe was born and raised in Troy, NY, where he played music from an early age. He received his first bass and began playing with a local band at age 12, and he took up the acoustic guitar soon after. Rowe began singing and writing songs in his late teens, but spent much of the next decade pursuing studies in wilderness survival skills and plant foraging. By the early '00s Rowe had merged his love of music and nature, and started writing and performing songs about his experiences in the American wilderness. He released a live album under the name Mudfunk in 2006, and made his debut as Sean Rowe in 2009 with the album Magic. Since then Rowe has toured the UK with Noah and the Whale, garnered critical praise for his 2012 sophomore album The Salesman and the Shark, and wowed national audiences with a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. His 2014 album Madman was another critical triumph, earning praise from NPR and drawing him out for extensive touring.
