Canadian rocker Serena Ryder is a rare talent who's trailblazing the way for a unique breed of folk rock. Her three-octave voice stands at the forefront of her performances, and whether she's shredding on her Gibson for her single "Stompa" or sweetly singing Band of Horses' "The Funeral," Ryder proves she's a dynamic entertainer with a killer voice and fierce guitar skills. Back on the road, she'll treat ticket buyers to an exciting string of Canadian tour dates, delighting fans with her power-punched sets.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born in Canada, Serena Ryder got her start penning songs at 11, drawing inspiration from legends like Leonard Cohen and the Beatles and learning to play guitar a few years later. Before long she was sharing her music with the local community, performing at local gigs in the Quebec arts community and singing alongside bands Three Days Grace and Thousand Foot Krutch. She scored her first record deal at just 18, leading to her major label debut in 2005 with Unlikely Emergency. With eight Juno Awards, a number of Top 10 hits, and several gold and platinum-certified records under her belt, Ryder has definitely made a name for herself in her native Canada. Back on the road, she gives ticket buyers plenty to look forward to as she heads out for an exciting Canadian tour.

This was my first Serena Ryder concert. I was genuinely impressed with her and how she brought to life the theme Merry Myths Tour! Serena has a kick ass voice that she belts out effortlessly and nuanced, and she plays guitar and my favourite, the tambourine! Serena was warm, friendly and fun. She and her band members provided a jazzy spirited experience. I enjoyed Serena’s storytelling that allowed the audience to get to know and learn of her contemporary values and perspective that shaped the concert’s theme. Her love of people shined as she interacted with a 6 year old fan in front row as well as inviting the audience to sing and dance along. I was also delighted and overjoyed when her guest Santa sang a duet with her. Love this local guy and his music. Given it was a holiday themed concert, I was excited when she sang a couple of her non-holiday songs for an encore. It was a well rounded way to complete the night. I left the concert feeling energized, happy, and grateful to experience such a warm, personable and creative artist. You hum, Serena!

Serena Ryder delivered an energetic, unique-style interpretation of well-known Christmas songs, backed by her talented band members. (She's not so bad herself on the acoustic guitar...) The surprise visit from "Santa"was a treat, as well as a duet with Begonia. The opening act, the Haileys is one to watch for in the future. They show great promise.
Enjoyed Serena immensely. She has a beautiful voice, great moves, a band that keeps it in the groove and a wonderful selection of music. The venue was great for a wheelchair person.
Serena and crew put on such a great show. It was her 41st birthday and she brought such joy to the audience. Amazing voice with such amazing talent! Thanks for bringing the Christmas Spirit to all of us. We love Club Regent Event centre too. Lots of parking and very comfortable seats with good views from all!
