SLIM CESSNA'S AUTO CLUB IN CONCERT:

For the past two decades, Slim Cessna's Auto Club has carried the torch for alt-country's kookier side with their unique "gothabilly" sound, eccentric lyrics, and unhinged live performances. Slim Cessna remains a consummate live performer, always bringing electric energy to the stage and getting ticket buyers feeling good with his magnetic persona, twangy vocals, and wild-eyed onstage antics. Supporting him is a talented cast of backing musicians letting it rip on lap steel guitar, banjo, drums, bass, and various percussion instruments. From the galloping rhythms of "This Is How We Do Things in the Country" to the cinematic narrative of "Cheyenne", the band's eclectic approach to classic Americana sounds always makes for a weird and wonderful concert experience.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Slim Cessna's Auto Club is the brainchild of Slim Cessna, a Denver-based singer-songwriter who grew up listening to a formative combination of country, gospel, and punk. Cessna played in various Colorado bands before forming his namesake band in 1992. The group released their self-titled debut in 1995 and toured extensively throughout the rest of the decade, building a strong regional following with their offbeat sound and rousing live shows. In 2000 they released their sophomore album Always Say Please and Thank you on the punk label Alternative Tentacles. By the early '00s Jay Munly, aka Munly Munly, had joined the band as a banjo player and co-vocalist, and he remains Cessna's sidekick to this day. Slim Cessna's Auto Club continued to release albums on Alternative Tentacles throughout the decade, and in 2012 they self-released a five-volume album in honor of their 20th anniversary. Since then they've continued to let their freak flag fly on tour, entertaining ticket buyers with their idiosyncratic blend of country and rockabilly.
