    Snow Patrol > Noel Gallagher

by AHair on 2013-04-05Rogers Arena - Vancouver

The crowd was quiet for most of Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, aside from the occasional shouts of "play Wonderwall!" For which Noel actually had a few inebriated men escorted out of the stadium until his set was done and Snow Patrol took the stage. Snow Patrol was a different story. They had people on their feet dancing and singing along for their entire time on stage. They would have performed "Berlin" on stage for the very first time ever and got through the first line, but unfortunately equipment failed and by the time it was fixed, they had to move on to the next song.

Snow Patrol was an amazing concert to see. They had a neat stage setup and had the audience in an interactive state. Great concert to see!

The Good, The uplifting & the surprising

by BRITDEL on 2012-10-31Edmonton EXPO Centre - Edmonton

Never heard of Jake Bugg till tonight, what a truly talented young man, his songs & vocal style were amazing . Noel Gallagher was good but not great, his music was tight & apart from a backing vocal problem during AKA what alife, he delivered what we expected, the teasing of the crowd by seeming to start Wondewall then sing something else was cheeky, I always prefered Whatever to Wonderwall anyway, but not talking till right at the end might have seemed funny, but most Canadians would have found that a wee bit arogant, Snow Patrol on the other hand warmed the crowd up with friendly humour & a superb set there sound was fantastic & the energy was great, I wish they had come on first maybe that would have caused Noel to raise his game. As it was the show was a bit long.

    Snow Patrol awesome!

very impressed with Jake Bugg opening the show with just himself and a guitar, he was amazing! Noel Gallagher and the High Flying Birds put on a good show but admittedly I was there more to see Snow Patrol and they did not disappoint! I love Gary Lightbody's energy throughout the show and the sound was amazing. I love a band that sounds great live and especially a singer that can sing live! I had seen them open for Coldplay a couple of years ago and was drawn back because they put on such a great show. Definitely would watch them again!

    Soaring Anthems

    by bayoubunny66 on 2012-10-31Stampede Corral - Calgary

What a show! Snow Patrol proved they have the talent and stage presence to soar with the big boys! The songs, which are all very stirring when done well, were supplemented with subtle videos and brilliantly composed lighting effects. The sound mix was great and the band were really in to it. They used the cold weather to try and interact with, and bond with, the audience. We appreciate that. And they didn't wear cowboy hats. Chasing Cars was magnificent! What a song! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I saw Noel and his birds at the start of their tour. They have improved greatly. Noel seems more comfortable with his new band and they seem less in awe, The Oasis songs drew the best response of course and probably always will but the new songs have the magic in them too. Noel chatted with the crowd quite a bit and was very relaxed which added to the fun.

    yeah

The chairs were a bummer - thanks to the couple seated next to us, who let me dance in the isle beside them so I did not get kicked out. Remember all couples have their splits and all musicians have their music so celebrate the guy you bought tickets for. Again - when travelling a distance to an Alberta concert it is nice to know that there is an opening artist or maybe even an itinerary, I know, crazy for a Rock Star, but, for those of us that have to drive a distance home for work in the morning - yes Mr. O'Leary some of us do work for a living outside the oil fields, it helps the designated driver (the older wiser guy) plan for stamina, and not have to pull out all of the players before the concert is finished, leaving you dancing in the halls as you exit the building for the band you thought was opening. Nice solo work Mr. Gallagher and the High Flying Birds, the concert was thoroughly enjoyed. CD Snow Patrol - for some of us old guys that observe copyright laws? :)

    Definitely Memorable

by goodtimes4all on 2012-10-30Edmonton EXPO Centre - Edmonton

I came into the show a complete Noel Gallagher fan, and not expecting a lot from Snow Patrol, as I had only heard one of their songs, and didn't really like it. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds played first, and they sounded amazing, only solidifying my love for them. I was blown away by their performances and couldn't wipe the grin off my face. My only wish was that the band interacted more with the audience, as it would have made it so much more personal. Snow Patrol came second, and I'm glad I came in with no expectations, because I was pleasantly surprised. They had a great stage presence and really made us feel like they were happy to be in Edmonton! The music was played well, just not really my type of thing. The only downer of the night was the vibe of the audience. It was a night of awesome, blood pumping music, and everyone was just standing with their hands in their pockets, or texting. A couple diehard fans were able to pick up the mood, but other than that, it was pretty dead. That was really a shame, because I just wanted to stand up and dance!
