About
SONDRE LERCHE IN CONCERT:
Norwegian indie pop icon Sondre Lerche has been captivating audiences with his sunny melodies, dance-friendly beats, and infectious on-stage energy for more than a decade. Lerche's feel-good tracks incorporate elements from Brazilian bossa nova, '80s pop, and acoustic folk music, and the result is a singular sound that has made him one of his home country's most successful indie exports. Whether he's getting fans moving with catchy 2014 single "Bad Law" or taking it way back with cuts from his 2001 debut album, Lerche is a consummate showman who always leaves ticket buyers feeling good on his must-see tours.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Bergen, Norway-born Sondre Lerche grew up listening to the '80s pop coming from the record players of his older siblings. At age eight he began formal guitar training, and by 14 he was penning his own songs. He began performing at local venues during his teens, and before long he was discovered by producer H.P. Gunderson and signed to Virgin Records. His 2001 debut album Faces Down was an indie sensation, receiving critical praise in both Europe and the US and landing on Rolling Stone's best-of list for the year. After extensive touring Lerche won the Norwegian Grammy for Best New Artist, cementing his place as one of the country's brightest new talents. His 2004 sophomore album Two Way Monologue was another critical success, earning praise from Pitchfork and once again drawing him out on tour. Since then he's released four more acclaimed albums including 2014's Please, a breathtaking slice of danceable indie rock characterized by contrasting musical styles, sudden dynamic shifts, and his signature croon. An energetic performer known for his infectious dancing and upbeat disposition on stage, Lerche treats ticket buyers to a memorable concert experience every time he tours.
