I have never seen such an amazing line up of bands in one place. Every single band totally rocked the stage! I may not have known every single band but because of the festival I have new favourite bands (Until The Ribbon Breaks especially!) Cage The Elephant absolutely killed it, even drowning in a mosh pit I knew they were owning the stage. Fitz And The Tantrums did just as well if not better in my opinion. That might be because I avoided the most pit this time and I knew all of their songs. All in all, the performances were all flawless!!

    July Talk stole the show!

by Cranking on 2014-09-03Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

Great weekend all around. Only negative is that outside of asphalt, no where to sit when feet or back get sore

    Great line up, great weekend

by RealisticIan on 2014-09-03Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

Don't know if they'll ever be able to pull off such a strong line up again, but all three days were great. Given the quality of the bands, the weekend pass was a steal. Nobody mailed it in, but for me the highlights were (in no particular order) Mounties, Current Swell, July Talk, Serena Ryder, Arctic Monkeys, Death Cab for Cutie and (of course) Jack White - what a way to finish!

    Best live show in years

by mauriceh on 2014-09-03Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

Excellent shows. I can not recall a poor or mediocre performance. The 3 best acts were worth the price of admission for each day. Event was well organised and on time, Small complaints: Buying VIP tickets was a waste of time and money. My wife is in a wheelchair, and to get from the handicapped area to the VIP area was a 150M walk, each way, and generally involv4ed a 5 to 10 minute wait in a lineup. The handicapped area was well located, otherwise. The area was a bit low, as a person in a wheelchair had no sight line to the stage.

Great event. Should give day wristbands out so that one may go back to their car to get an inhaler or something medical if necessary.

Jack White, Fitz & Death Cab -- All Great!!!!

by daleB on 2014-09-03Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

Great show by Jack White, Death Cab for Cutie and Fitz and the Tantrums. I'm sorry I missed the Smalls. Overall the quality of the music was great. I've been to a few shows over the years, ACDC (Back in Black Tour), The Stones, Clapton, Winton Marsalis, U2, Buddy Guy, BB King etc. Jack White was right up there. I'm an old rocker from the 70's but I have to say that Fitz and the Tantrums are really good too. They reminded me of an old Motown, Stax Record Soul band with a bit of a beat.

    Loved the event......

by Grace4 on 2014-09-03Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

Loved the acts, loved the way it was setup, and loved how punctual it was. Did not enjoy the mixing board circus tent location....should have been another 5o yards back.

    Great Weekend of Music

by OWBHG on 2014-09-03Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

Great selection of bands: new, established and rebooted. Organization of security when gates opened each day was poor. Wearing the same wrist band all weekend is a bit annoying. Food variety was great. Beer garden running out of Beve grapefruit was a bit disappointing. Venue could be much better.

    Had a great time

by jange on 2014-09-02Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

My wife and I arrived a little late at about 2:30pm and left about 30 minutes early at 10:30pm. However, 8 hours was enough for our 30 year old bones. We're not as young as we used to be. Overall we have a great time. We enjoyed every act, though Cage the Elephant was definitely the best. Serena Ryder, who was a little out of place in the group, was actually very good. The food was expensive, as expected, and the line-ups were long. No lines for the bathrooms, which was nice. Overall we had an awesome time and will go again next year.

Enjoyed this two day event immensely. The venue was well set up and the bands were all fantastic. It would be nice to have had more food trucks available but there was a very good choice of food, not just hotdogs and hamburgers.

I did it all for the Weezer

by chiefkewj on 2013-09-05Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

Main and only reason I bought tickets was to see Weezer, which earned this review 2 stars. The downside is lack of day passes, and I heard a lot of complaints on Saturday from people who only wanted to attend Sunday. But it was also evident on Sunday that there were many who simply waited until Sunday to show up, which means the organizers cashed in on the fans. The bonus 3rd star comes from the free iced tea that was being handed out. Other things going on, there was some wrestling, and great food being sold like bannock burgers. Another downer, the fact City & Color closed out Saturday, no energy in the crowd, many began to leave because they were likely falling asleep. Good music, but not the kind to end a rock festival.

    General review

by sabs on 2013-09-04Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

The bands chosen this year were great. I would have liked the option ahead of time to go to one day and not both. Also the wrist bands sucked. You couldn't tuck in the extra length of the strap which made it annoying. Would like to he I'm a venue where you can go past 11pm. Loved that there was lots of food choices this year.

    Sonic boom

by lilmissmuffet on 2013-09-04Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

I had friends that went to Rock the Shores in Victoria as well and they said overall it was a better experience. They had a grassy layout, not pavement. There was food in the beer gardens. And as well you could drink outside the beer gardens. I understand the reason to separate and have beer gardens but if one wanted to go wait in a long line up for food you also had to wait back in line to get into the beer gardens. More choices of booze would be nice. More benches or tables in the beer gardens. It was nice not having to wait in line barely this year to get into the grounds in comparison to last year

    Nothing less than Incredible

by Octane37 on 2013-09-04Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

The 2-day event was incredible! From a VIP section's point of view, short lines that moved quickly, lots of security measures in place to keep us healthy and safe. A great value for the money, providing a clean, grassy picnic area, a few amazing food venues (Fat Frank's- kept most of us alive :) and wraps for our healthier peeps, plenty of licensed options, porta potties AND real bathrooms, and shade! The section also had an extension toward the stage allowing us to get closer to the action and the 2 BIG Screens helped us shorter folk. VIP passes allowed us to explore the other side as well which provided tons of great food choices, beverages, beer gardens...they even had a wrestling match! BUT...of course, it was the music that made this, the event of the summer. One incredible band after another with hardly any delay except for set-up. There was such a fantastic crowd and our Edmonton pride shone through.

    Overall awesome experience

by Rednewf2013 on 2013-09-04Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

The whole show was well laid out and planned, and the VIP experience was well worth the extra money. My only minor gripe was the lack of beer choice, since I'm paying $7 a beer, I'd like a little more choice in the brands... Music was all good, and many bands I wasn't expecting to be anything special were great, like AWOLNation (very solid, and more rock than I expected), and USS (AMAZING stage presence). Mother Mother and Sheep Dogs were exactly as I expected, great, pretty much everyone else was good too. Slightly disappointed with Weezer, as the mix was bad, and they just felt like they were going through the motions...
