    Decent festival

by AJ87 on 2013-09-04Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

This was my first time attending Sonic Boom. I enjoyed the festival for the most part. Food and Amenities: The food and drink prices weren't that bad for a festival and there was a lot of variety. The bathroom lines were tolerable and didn't quite stink either. The venue also had some bench seating along the fencing which was great for a rest. The Music: The lineup was a bit hit and miss. I wasn't overly happy with the sound quality but did find it was better by the second day of the festival. The order of bands was a bit strange at times and could have been tweaked to ramp up to be a bit heavier as the night went on instead of the hodge podge that was booked.

    Sonic Boom blew my MIND!

by Jilligans on 2013-09-04Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

Best year yet... the Boom just keeps getting bigger and better! This is my fourth consecutive year at the Sonic Boom and I can say I'm having more fun the longer this festival runs. Amazing. Nice work to the Sonic 102.9 people for KILLING it, yet again. The two day festival was the way to go, I had a blast. Jill

    Excellent

by FlyingPig24 on 2013-09-04Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

I feel like everything was set up really well. There was never a really long wait for drinks or food when I went and it wasn't hard to get into the crowd or get up and crowd surf haha. I'm not a Weezer fan but they were great. I also didn't know how excited I was to see Blink 182 until they came on, and they were so great. It was like everyone was reliving their younger days. Great time. Will probably be back :)

Festival expands to awesome new 2-day extravaganza

by NewGuy on 2013-09-04Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

After years of being a one-day festival of hard rock acts, Sonic Boom took a chance this year, expanding to a 2-day festival. Spread out through the days were more chill bands (Dan Manga, City and Colour, Yukon Blonde) and more hard rock bands (Weezer, Awolnation, Blink 182). There was something at this festival for everyone and while the main demographic was young party-goers, there were people of all ages there, including older couples and children as young as 3. The crowd favorite was clearly the Sheepdogs who played an exceptional set, bearing a classic-rock sound. My personal favorites were Dan Mangan, Blink 182, and City and Colour.

    Average

by Mahneuvers on 2013-09-04Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

Line ups to get into the beer garden were 200 ppl deep at times so I didn't eat all day since there wasn't a food vendor inside. I know this has been the location of sonic boom forever but on a hot day the concrete makes it feel like hell. Also not being able to leave and come back sucked. I was freezing at night and melting during the day. I'd go to folk fest where I know none of the artists verses sonic boom for the atmosphere alone.

    Fun times, good show

by RodeoClown on 2013-09-04Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

There were a lot of very talented performers at this year's Sonic Boom; unfortunately Passion Pit was not one of them. I get that their equipment was damaged in a flood but they were at a music festival, they probably could have borrowed some instruments. Instead they did a live DJ set that appeased the teenagers and the rest of us were seriously disappointed. On a more positive note, City and Colour was amazing (as always). Dallas Green sings like an angel. Weezer was fun as Weezer usually is and they sounded great. Mother Mother also pleasantly surprised me with some awesome live performances of their own songs AND some classic Nirvana. Overall it was a good show!

Not sure if I'd spend $150 again.

by MicroNme on 2013-09-04Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

Sonic Boom was set up way better this year. Lines moved faster, lay out was better. The bands were good; but none of them stood out like Linkin Park did last year. It reminded me of a forgotten 90's bands concert.

Sonic Boom 2013 was amazing from the opening acts to the headliners. The weather was fantastic and the site amenities were better than 2012. Keep up the great job Sonic 102.9!

    Sonic boom was great

by Grenadefrog on 2013-09-04Edmonton Northlands Grounds - Edmonton

Overall I was very pleased with the event all the bands were great and the venue was perfect. Couldn't have asked for a better show. I feel as though the VIP area should have had better access to the stage.
