About

Sophie Ellis-Bextor is an English singer/songwriter known for her disco-pop hits. She gained fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of the indie music group theaudience before embarking on a successful solo career. In January 2024, her song "Murder on the Dancefloor," which was released on her more than two decades prior on her 2001 album Read My Lips, made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100. Sophie puts on a fantastic show! She was very engaging and personable. Thoroughly enjoyed the concert. The a capella performance on the balcony at the end was lovely and unexpected.

SEB was absolutely electric — she had the whole dance floor bouncing from start to finish!

The Commodore Ballroom was perfect venue for the show. Sophie and the band put on a fantastic show playing a mix of old and new songs as well as charming explanations and fun facts from Sophie. The audience was mesmerized and danced and sang along.. loved it

  • Excellent show at Commodore

by RD on 2024-09-16Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a fan for over two decades, I was trying to keep my expectations in check, but she over-delivered on everything! Engaging, genuine, humorous, sensitive...and touring with her husband and co-collaborator Richard Jones on this NA tour must have been special (and I assume the five kids are in tow as well). Sophie did not disappoint; the final acoustic presentation above all of us in the upper level bar area paid homage to her Kitchen Disco offerings during the pandemic. This topped off a wonderful entertaining evening at the amazing Commodore Ballroom.

  • Excellent!

I LOVED this show! Sophie Ellis-Bextor is a beautiful, talented, self-possessed, charming woman who entertained us simply and very effectively with a small band and her own eye-popping, leg-kicking presence. No typical distracting dance diva tactics like cheesy backup dancers and excessive choreography/production. Nice mix of hit singles from the very beginning to fresh out the studio and in between. Classy Japan-inspired stage set-up with two cherry blossom trees that the Commodare made a very fitting venue for. I hope we continue to see more British/global pop stars like Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams etc come through Vancouver!

  • Sophie Ellis Bexter

by Hazel on 2024-09-16Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Her voice was good and very unique but the problem for us was that the drums and base totally drowned her good voice out. So could not understand what she was singing about. Very disappointing.

  • So so great!

She was so much fun! Having been a fan for more than 20 years never thought I’d be able to see her live and the wait was worth it! High energy! The mic was on! Looked and sounded great.

  • The legendary Sophie!!

by Luisa on 2024-06-18The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I'd been waiting to see Sophie Ellis Bextor for a long time, so I immediately got tickets when I saw her coming to Toronto. I didn't know what to expect ( I knew it would be great regardless), but she blew my mind away. Her energy on stage, charismatic personality, humbleness, love, passion for what she does, and her fans are from another world. I am happy that she's getting the recognition she deserves! She sounds even better than in the records!! It was such a fun show; I danced the entire night away. If you get a chance, SEE HER! You won't regret it!
