    Great Friday night lineup!

by Asha485 on 2013-08-12Loggers Sports Grounds - Squamish

The lineup wa fantastic. There is however LOTS of room for improvement in regards to organization and living conditions. There needs to be a better system for bringing people into the event; I drove all the way in from Calgary, AB and then had to sit in my car for another 3.5 hours just to get into the camping area. There also needs to be MANY more toilets and wash stations. Better communication between staff/volunteers is also necessary.

So many people, was excitement from the beginning

by BusbyGirl4Life on 2013-08-12Loggers Sports Grounds - Squamish

I had an awesome time, the only thing that was really annoying was the scanning of the wristbands! Stood in line up for 45 minutes to top up to go into another line up to grab my beverages! Not to mention having to scan to enter and exit the smoking area to which people didn't obey in the first place. Besides that, it was awesome. Free samples everywhere!

    SVMF <3

by KatieAndy on 2013-08-12Loggers Sports Grounds - Squamish

I took my dad for his birthday and it was an awesome time! I loved most of the bands that were playing! I dislike this new load your SVMF bracelet up for 2.50 every time and then you can get drinks. Half the time all over the scanners were not working.

    squamish!!!!!!

by Anonymous on 2013-08-12Loggers Sports Grounds - Squamish

Event grounds were so beautiful and the music was unreal. Camping was a lot of fun but pretty disgusting. Not nearly enough bathrooms, water fill stations, or garbage cans. Nonetheless, unreal experience.

    Setting was fabulous

by JohnnyMidnite on 2013-08-12Loggers Sports Grounds - Squamish

Fantastic festival! The grounds were spacious and the food was great. I was only there for the Friday and the line up was fantastic. Said the Whale, Dan Mangan and of course, Macklemore and Lewis! There was plenty of lawn to sit on, and things were pretty friendly in the standing crowd near the stage. I took my kids, aged 11 and 13 and they had a great time.

Great venue & setting, great festival

by mintyd on 2013-08-12Loggers Sports Grounds - Squamish

Once again, Squamish rocked it. The views, venue and weather was superb. The various bands and DJs on Friday were great - although bands last year had WAY better 'stage presence' along with great tunes. Of course, Macklemore did help make up for the more boring bands (Vampire Weekend - great sound but com-on guys, it's a LIVE act, not a studio recording). SVMF, please keep up with up and coming Canadian acts - they are amazing and let's support and expose more of our own from across the country. Also, Live @ Squamish was a much better fest name for music of this calibre. FYI... the beer sucked. I know they are your sponsor but it was like drinking crappy american beer.

The venue is great, the bands were great, how they set up to handle crowds was pretty good. Will go again!

    Squamish fest

by Errin on 2013-08-12Loggers Sports Grounds - Squamish

The festival was overall really great! I enjoyed all of the shows and the energy was awesome! It would have been nice if there were more toilets and showers. When we showed up we went to the drop off area and no one had an idea where to get wristbands... The volunteers and staff were helpful but 1/10 seemed to know how everything worked. It also sucked that we ended up paying for parking that was well over a 20 minute walk from the festival. Shuttles and closer parking are a must for next year. All in all (after the first couple hours of straight hectic) it was an amazing weekend and I am still recovering from all the fun! And also the waffle dogs were life changing

Great Artists this yr but too busy

by MissPidgeon on 2013-08-12Loggers Sports Grounds - Squamish

Having been to Squamish Festival the first 2 yrs but never camping & trying that this yr it was terribly unorganized with the amount of portapotties for the amount of people - the getting in to set up was hectic but once settled it was only the bathroom & sink situation that didn't make sense. The artists were all fabulous & I thoroughly enjoy the line ups always. Beer gardens were too pricey - couldn't believe that & just too many people for the venue size - was hard to walk anywhere - felt like cattle constantly. I'd go again but not camp there.

    Empty the toilets!

by Edzter on 2013-08-12Loggers Sports Grounds - Squamish

Great venue, some great acts, but over-priced beer, toilets that overflowed with excrement and lack of hand sanitizer took away from the event. Look after the basics.

    Squamish Music Festival 2013

by PixieWitch on 2013-08-12Loggers Sports Grounds - Squamish

Overall a good weekend. The organisation on the Thursday made me wonder if the event was going to be a disaster. The signage for the event was terrible, and hardly any of the staff seemed to know what was going on. We were trying to find the check in for glamping rather than standard camping and the only signage for it was when you got to the front of the queue - a handwritten sheet of A4 paper on the check in tent that you could read when you got to it. And on top of that ...all of the electronic systems were down and the queues were piling up. Then the showers and toilets in the glamping section weren't working for the whole of day 1. The head of camping seemed genuinely concerned that they were having problems. By Friday though, everything seemed to be under control and systems were working properly and smoothly. The staff were mostly lovely, although there were a couple of "jobs worths" around. The layout of the event was good. A lot of good bands played at the event and there was generally enough choice that you could find a stage that you wanted to watch, although having two rap bands on the two big stages at the same time with nothing on the small stage meant nothing to watch. The main band on Sat night - QOTSA were good, but they were late on and finished early...that's not good form QOTSA. Did you think all your fans would be too drunk to notice? Well they weren't. They did put on good light and video show though. The range of food available was excellent and not too pricey. The bar however - ridiculous prices. The information pack sent out was good...except for the map, which had such small writing on it - almost impossible to read.

Kinda boring. Not much to do between shows or if you're waiting for another act.

Not enough ports johns in camping

by Fatkidsmarties on 2013-08-12Loggers Sports Grounds - Squamish

Music line much better this year, but camping was a shitshow. 20 toilets all near the front of camping, it was a 1.5k walk for the farthest site. Should have been twice as many and spread out. Half the time useless as they were too full. Food options were good and staff friendly. The showers at rec centre were the saving grace.

    Cash Grab for Booze

by Anonymous on 2013-08-12Loggers Sports Grounds - Squamish

Insane prices for alcoholic beverages ($8-10/350 ml) and a 'cashless' wristband payment system that included obligatory "service charges", hassles getting refunds on unused balances, and no opportunity to pool small remaining balances from multiple wristbands to purchase items. Great performances, nice venue, but no wonder there were so many empty flasks of alcohol littering the grounds on Saturday: drink prices motivated smuggling outside alcohol past security. I'd attend next year, but will not be held hostage by those drink prices (& service charges) again!

Chromeo and the Garibaldi stage !

by iceyeyes on 2012-09-04Loggers Sports Grounds - Squamish

The event it self was an awesome experience met lots of people the veiws ofbthe moutains and the stawamus stage were unforgetable. Chromeo was literally amazing same with mother mother they ultimatly rocked the event. Mark Firena had some awesome beats. Lots do and see at the event. Some areas were a bit unorganized and i would not recommend p aying 200$ for regular camping. It was literally a joke. It was a dusty small parking lot literally. They looked like they deffinatly over booked th space. We got there on friday 3 pm and it was a se a of tents. Was a joke. If anything glamping was where its at. You had space private entrance and more secure. And u can imagine what it was like at night... Other than that it was pretty good.!

Garbage sound ruined it-kill the kick drum & bass

by Anonymous on 2012-08-29Loggers Sports Grounds - Squamish

Sound @ Stawamus was a low-end abomination. Good programming but venue too small too adequately showcase smaller & more interesting acts especially if the main stage sound guy is deaf. It ruined Garibaldi & meadow. Get rid of the Woodshed. Need better website to describe artists. Overpriced compared to other festivals. Some really good acts though.

    Squamish Live

by Charlene123 on 2012-08-29Loggers Sports Grounds - Squamish

not having ability to drop off camping gear and picking was not favorable. should of had wheel barrows or golf carts to help. lack of garbage cans in camping area was awful and garbage everywhere. should of had recycled bins. If your a regular camper should of been easier going to tent and back to venue. there should be some perk to camping on site because showers were not included and pretty over priced for camping on rocks and was suppose to be designated tent sites not so crowded to camp in.
