Thank you Steve Hackett. One of the best concerts I have seen in my life. Despite me not having much experience with his solo stuff the first half of the concert was a musical theatre for me. His 9 solo songs were expertly done by him and his band- the keyboards with King were royalty, Reingold on bass was fantastic and his solo was amazing, Rob Townsend on you name it (flute, sax and boards) was also engulfing the audience into a prog rock trans of sorts, Nick on drums was his usual bang out awesome (his solo was also really cool and pretty awesome that he did a Collins tribute to it in there) and his pregame taping the lineup outside was fun and Nad on vocals - well I have heard some say they don't like him but he also had his moments. Now for the Genesis stuff- Wow thank you for that from one of many old guys who came to hear stuff we will never hear again from the originals. All songs were spot on and more, with Supper's Ready raising the roof of the beautiful and haunting Massey Hall. It literally brought me back to a different time period world hearing these songs. I was captured by it and was thankful for it. It brought me back to an argument you always hear about Genesis- which period is better Gabriel or Collins. Well I think all this time Genesis fans should be arguing over the Hackett vs Non Hackett years because I think thats the difference in the three distinct music periods. I have always loved both Peter and Phil as Genesis lead singers but after hearing the Hackett stuff alone I do believe that he might have been the ingredient missing from the real early Genesis music and the later Genesis music recipes after hearing Hackett. Well done Steve- I will forever be a fan and for sure be going if he ever comes back to the Toronto area. As for Massey Hall well the old girl sure looked great with her new dress and make up on . Loved every minute of it- the bar downstairs had a cool vibe to it for the pregame. Despite sitting right beside one of those old style pillars (I felt bad for the guy behind me who was sitting right behind it- what are they doing selling that seat for full price I will never know- oh yeah for profit stupid me) the place was a perfect place to listen to Steve's haunting prog rock and the ole Genesis stuff.
Prog icon Steve Hackett never fails us! He's in his '70s now, and still shreds! I knew every song, and loved it. A great night! Thanks, Steve!
Full audience, no one wants to miss the opportunity to see such a SHOW! I enjoyed the 2nd half better though.. Classic Genesis. I will attend Steve Hackett concert in the future anytime!
I was at the concert at Massey Hall in October 1978 on Steves first solo tour after leaving Genesis On tuesday I took my Daughter and 14 year old Grandson to his {my Grandson's} first Rock concert Sound and atmosphere epic just as it was 47 years ago Thank you Steve for your integrity, enthusiasm and dedication to the music we all love
Nothing better than front row seats with the best view of Rob Townsend & Nad Sylvan .. then was able to relocate to a seat in front of Steve… always the best sound by the iconic Ben Fenner in the most fab venue of Massey Hall!!!
Another amazing performance by Steve Hackett and his fellow band mates. Always treated with a great sound and light show and talented musicianship!
Tremendously performance by Steve Hackett and his band. Once of the best concerts I have attended.
Steve and his amazing band delivered a spectacular performance. Never thought I would hear any of The Lamb played live - it was an extremely moving experience for this Genesis fanatic; made even better by my daughter sharing it with me. Brilliant musicians, an honour to have been there.
Excellent performance. Top notch! Massey Hall has incredible acoustics.
